So I have been 30 days sober and I have got to say my perspective on stuff has changed a lot. I know a lot of people on here are pretty straight laced and don't drink or smoke and I feel a hell of a lot better now that I am the same way. Waking up at 8 a.m., while still uncomfortable and bright, is no longer an impossibility for me and I have been becoming a better friend/person everyday I am sober. I still have to go to aa's like everyday though or I want to drink, and I can't dj out/go to clubs at the moment because I get free drinks just brought to me always so I have to avoid that I am still not strong enough to resist. Sucks but my sobriety is more important. I know there is many men (and a few girls  ) better than I on these boards and got to say some peoples perspectives on stuff here really helped me with making the decision. Just wanted to say thanks.

It is still pretty crazy though not having my tool that I use to deal with reality. Social situations are a lot different sober, after a few drinks I usually get quite intellectual, funny and very insightful (well thats how I remember things at least, but I was drunk so who knows) but rarely managed to keep at that level before spilling over into drunk. Thanks for the support it is much appreciated, hopefully soon I will have a bit more cash for vinyl from cutting drinking, but I can't do my extra money job right now so thats kind of hard, I don't deal well knowing there is not a package on its way to my house.

You should have a sign up at your DJ Set-up saying, "NO DRINKS PLEASE".

Hey, very honest of you to share this with teh board!

Yeah, sober does kind of make life a bit tricky in social situations doesn't it? Looking back to my younger years, I think people who have to get wasted to be able to interact probably have something missing. In work situations I regularly get laughed at for not drinking, and in social situations back in England I regularly got harassed for not drugging, but in the end I think I'm better off for not doing it....and lucky that it wasn't that difficult for me to make that choice. For those of you it is difficult for I feel for you guys - cos I know I can't say no to vinyl - but that just kills my wallet not by liver or brain cells. So all I can say is keep up the good works, and know you and those around you will be better off for it.

That's really great. One month is huge. I can guarantee that it gets easier. I just got 2 years this month. Way to take control of your life. If you or anyone else on this board ever needs any help with sobriety hit me up.

Congrats, Collin. Any kind of positive behavior change is hard to cultivate at first, but after a couple of months you're going to find that it gets easier and easier. Keep at it!

Yeah meetings daily is kind of hard, but it is nice seeing old friends, a lot of party buddys I talked to recently are also getting sober. Went to lunch today with my old college room mate that I have known since 7th grade and he has been sober 90 days so it was nice to hangout with someone and be able to feel comfortable not being drunk holding a conversation.
