Mentors LOL. Whoa, memories of their first SF concert ... The now-forgotten C'est La Guerre opening, Circle Jerks (also their first SF show) next, then El Duce and Sicky and crew. Must have been 1979 or 80 or so. Someone said that their beer bellies were "poetry." Savoy Tivoli on Grant Street. Then Henry Rosenthal aka Hank Rank of CRIME had a party for them at his Complex. They showed the "Get Up and Die" preview which was disgusting of course, but the "New Wave Ties Suck. Hoods Are In!" thing was funny. Keith Morris was incredibly drunk and barfed on my shoes. I had no idea who he was 'cause the Jerks weren't famous yet and LA Punk hadn't taken over in SF yet but ... well it's a story. Mentors wore nothing but filthy underwear during their set. Hank's wife Carola wouldn't let them sit on the furniture before covering it in plastic garbage bags. Snakefinger loitered near the cheese log with Fritz from The Mutants who refused to talk to anyone unless they crouched down to be shorter than him. What was this thread about?

EDIT: I did not type "DISCO." You know what I wrote. Rhymes with "skunk." You mods are having way too much fun with your magical word filters.

Skrewdriver - were they that multi-racial reggae/punk x-over band who preached universal love for all mankind? :? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Yes, Skrewdriver are happy-happy rainbows-and-unicorns types. They remind me of Stevie Nicks in a Renaissance Faire crushed velvet shawl. Cuddly lovey-dovey hippies.

Andrea True Connection's song More, More, More is the best song of 1976. or really, any year, forever. if it weren't for this song about the triumphs and struggles of capitalism and its relationship to drugs, sex, and emotion, Pulp would've never released This is Hardcore. More, More, More is the original vibe. Sung by a porn star for the pimps on the dance floor. Muzak porn of the soft core variety- More, More, More.

Well she WAS a professional after all. Hilarious in retrospect that because of that, the lyric "So if you want to know / How I really feel / Get the cameras rolling / Get the action going" was controversial at the time.

Anyway you're right. Well, actually, there was also "Keep it Comin' Love" by KC and the Sunshine Band, which when you think about it, sounds a lot like the Koyaanisqatsi soundtrack. Try not to think about it.

my fave part of Koyaanisqatsi is when they go into the BART in like 1981 and it looks IDENTICAL to how it does now.
