Yea. You can also just add more to your existing one.

Two things

1) You have to get the same type of memory your motherboard takes now (e.g. DDR, SDRAM, EDO, etc). Not just any memory will work.

2) If you are going to keep your old memory and just add more, you may have to add the same amount (e.g. you have a 256k chip in now, you can only add more 256k chips with it, not a 512k). You can remove your old one altogether and put in whatever size you want, but not two that are different sizes. I suppose all motherboards may not be like this, but mine was.

There are little programs you can run that will tell you exactly what kind of memory you need. memorystore.com has a utility that does it on their front page, but I don't know if buying from them is any good.

If you buy the right kind, you should just be able to plug it in and it will work.

Also, depending on the board/RAM configuration when it was new, it may not have a free slot to just add RAM to what's there now - Sometimes the only way to upgrade is to remove the current RAM and put in a bigger one in its slot.
