i had to get this yesterday, and the shortcut arrow on icons is REALLY kiling me, it covers a quarter of the damn icon itself, and if these things are gonna cover my desktop im going to go mad. does anyone here happen to know how to change this stupid thing!!! i swear i use to know how to change it in windows 200 but i cant figure out this "user friendly" garbage. the less options the harder this damn stuff is to figure out im gonna pull my hair out!!

I don't have Vista but this may help

http://www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.html

I've used the xp guide and it's pretty useful.

On the other hand it looks like Vista is going the way of ME, "Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates on Friday indicated that Windows 7, the next major version of Windows, could come within the next year"

Upgraded to Vista SP1, went into safe mode, uninstalled original drivers (Nvidia Geforce 8800GTX), rebooted and reinstalled with latest drivers. No display when computer loads in to Vista :(

So I've had to go into safe mode again, roll back driver, reboot with just Windows generic driver on an awesome video card. So sad.

Vista is quite funny. Not like win2000 or xp. They require specific "VISTA driver" to kickstart your video card, your audio card or other device.
Usually device to be used under vista require you to download a VISTA compatible driver.

I bought a device that didn't offer such driver , so it become useless.
Microsoft tried to force the OEM manufacturer to join some sort of vista program, so that the maker will be able to produce such driver.
For some brands that didn't join, their device suddenly will be obsoleted after user upgraded to vista.

But popular video card shouldn't have such problem coz most of them should have the VISTA driver for download

Darky, I know this is a dumb question but I'm gonna ask anyway...did you download the right drivers for youe vid card? You gotta remember there are 2 versions of Vista, 32bit and 64bit...well...along with Basic, Ultimate, and whatever else there is. It's a pretty common mistake even with the most experienced PC users.
BTW...Vista is THAT bad. If you really don't need to be running Vista, you should go back to XP.

read the guides to installing their altered nVidia drivers. I'd be fucked if it weren't for this site...

Hey,

Yep, got Win Vista 32bit. I only use Home Premium which is not the same as ultimate.
