I was asked to order (relatively new) books about Japan for my workplace. I'd like to get a few on toys (at the very least Tokyo Underground), and some on contemporary Japanese art (including and beyond Murakami, Nara, et al).

Photo books, design, architecture, travel guides, and other nonfiction would also be good.

What are your suggestions?

"Tokyo Nobody" is a really interesting book....it's photographs of different parts of Tokyo with no people in the photos...which is really an amazing feat.

Also, one of my favorite books is on old Japanese baseball cards (menko). Definitely a niche, but even if you're not into it, the photos are really good.
