i had been collecting DC comic books religiously for the better part of 18 years, never missing an issue of any ongoing titles are important event series, that is, until i found kaiju. now, i haven't picked up an issue for near 8 months. I have documented in a notebook every issue released by DC since my initial "break" in the order of their release, and I keep telling myself I need to take a break from kaiju spending to catch up on the comics, but i haven't yet been able to bring myself to do it. i was just curious if anyone else has a similar dillemma in their lives... |

The DC stuff I can't part with though, and have no intention to... green lantern 4 life! dude, i love green lantern more than any dc character! but, also, gl was one of the reasons that i veered away from buying comics and strictly giving my money to kaiju. during this whole "final crisis" thing, sinestro built up the sinestro corps to destroy the glc, and the gardians gave back the corps their ability to kill. something just doesn't sit right with me about that. i always loved in the classic stuff how all the corps members could overcome extreme odds without killing... |

yeah. sinestro is pretty brutal. they basically rebuilt the corps. hal jordan found all the old corps members that he supposedly killed when he went mad and was stealing all the rings and what not in the mid 90's. All alive and well. Sinestro added the OG Manhunters to his roster. and he mimicked the gl's ring factor, sending a ring to each sector for the one being in that sector that could instill the most fear. anyways, the glc basically only killed a ton of sinestro corps members defending mogo, which is understandable, i guess. casualties and extremes in time of war, right? that's all what happened up until i stopped buying... |

I just go to Border's Books, get a coffee, and read all the collection volumes... then I leave. |

Collecting has pushed everything back for me. No mas comics, video games, movies, etc. Hoping the girlfriend will continue to put up with it, or she may go on the list. |

I still spend money on Comics every week, the new 3 3/4" Gi joes, The new DC universe figures by mattel, Im starting to get into comicbook statues(sideshow, bowen), and random WOS and original TMNT figures, in addition to collecting JP vinyl!Something has to give soon, but I will tell you this, Ill walk away from vinyl toys before I ever give up my comics, Ive been reading since I can remember( stopped during high school and after for about 8 years, more focused on girls) but I can always go back into the boxes and dig out a good story. Oh, and I though DC sucked for years, until Grant Morrison came along, and now this new GL and GL corps has me excited! There is going to be "the Blackest Night" soon! |

Before toys, i spent most of my disposable income on video games. I bought more than I could play and eventually wound up with a huge backlog. So I've quit buying games and use all that money to buy toys. Playing through this backlog is going to take me forever. |

I always ended up giving the books away anyway, and that monthly unresolved feeling sucked so I just waited for a compilation graphic. |

kaiju is the debbil! I've focused on RxH only for this year--except for a gargamel fig I was missing (thanks plover) and yet, I'm still spending as much as ever. I just got my TMNT figs in today. they're awesome. kaiju might take a back seat if NECA does more characters. |

I still pick up 10 or so titles a month, but there a little less mainstream. Mostly Warren Ellis suff, and i love Grant Morrison. I tend to buy more graphic novels now, but now that i've heard Loco's technique i'm in. |

the thing about comics nowadays are that the trades are so easy to get and they come out so quickly. I like reading 'em but I don't collect. THere are only a few trades that I have Watchman etc. |

America, I had no clue it was going to happen, here I am sitting in my living room reading and all of a sudden, BLAM! I was shocked, I yelled out" NO WAY!" and my wife looked at me weird. You cant get that when you buy a trade. |

I do still follow some series and pick up all-star superman when that comes out. that's one of the best things morrison has done lately. |

i get the trades when it comes to marvel, because that way, if i get disappointed in the story, which usually tends to happen with marvel, i can take the book back to the book store. but dc has never served me wrong...100% wrong that is, so I still buy single issues of those. as for the whole not being able to wait for the next issue for the story goes, all dc books more or less tie together, and if you read about 50 dc titles a month, the gap between issues doesn't seem that bad. |

i stopped collecting comics because as a whole, monthly titles suck...it's all a bunch of shit that marvel and dc do then undo and make shitty again...there's nothing permanent ...I mean, how many times do we need to retell origins and shit? I feel like all the comics exist to promote the movies these days anyway. I do, however, follow artists and writers that I like and pick up whatever they involve themselves with...like paul pope, ashley wood and frank miller..aside from that, I don't follow a weekly schedule the way I grew up doing. The monthly ongoing series is dead...what these publishers should do is hire out the great talent and let them do their own mini-series...kind of like a constant "otherworlds." Individual self contained stories involving the marvel/dc/image heroes....fuck the monthly title. EDIT: that being said...manage your money better |
