Post subject:  toy stores/tokyo underground.

does anyone have the address/hand drawn map/hints on finding the real head store and the new secret base joint? i'm there in a few days.

also, does anyone know of any stores in tokyo underground that don't exist anymore (deadbone, where are you!? ;)) so that i don't waste my time trying to find places that are long gone.

thanks in advance for any help. :)

Andy, I've been trying to keep Brian and Josh on top of updates that need to be done for the book, so could you please send them a PM with the material above? Thanks.

I've never been down to Toys Paradise, what kind of stuff do they have?

Do you by any chance have an address/phone number?

For Real X Head, they have a map on their homepage (Click the PDF Link at the bottom of the page): http://realxhead.jp/

The train stop is Aoto. You can play match the symbols on your maps if you dont know Japanese.

The station shown on the official map is on the Keisei line, which is not JR, so be aware. Your best bet is to probably ride the Yamanote line to Nippori, and you can use the Keisei line to access Aoto.

Of course, I havent actually been there myself so please correct me if I'm wrong (it wasn't open last time I was in Japan).

sorry for an old bump.

so i'm back. no pictures really, everyone has seen all the cool shit and better quality pictures.

if you are planning to go, the book is great but as already posted alot of shit has now closed or moved. the maps were all super useful except the harajuku one due to the reason above. saying that, i seriously doubt i would have been able to find cosmo knight alpha in ekoda and jyranico in machiya (unfortunately shut) without brian holding my hand.

huge thanks to brian for showing me around/hanging out and koji for helping me out at thrashout, it was great meeting you dudes. also to hams for listen to my bitching.

ps project 1/6 and the new(ish) bounty hunter store fucking suck. i was so bummed out.

aww man, pictures would have been very nice--your experience would have been different from the other dudes.

brian took me of one looking stoned with mori at rxh and i took one of outside the store, that was about it. half of the time i totally forgot my camera and the other half i couldn't be fucked figuring out how to get it to work (got it two days before i left). some joints (ie mandarake) don't want you taking shots anyway.

not much, nothing cool or rare by skullbrain standards anyway. i kinda restrained myself as i was planning to pick up sneakers/denim but ironically i didn't get any because other shit came up and i'm a poor planner hahaha. i didn't even make it to ueno:

bxh blue/white skull-kun (wanted one for ages, was stoked when i saw it).
GID kai-zine galtan.
GID dream rocket gabari.
gargamel yellow zag.
gargamel clear ojo rojo.
gargamel pink ojo rojo
gargamel green smoking corps.
rxh grey mini cat.
rxh flesh shinto-san.
rxh yellow shinto-san.
4 repro henshin cyborg. one has a cracked chest. i was gonna buy an OG from mandarake but i hesitated, went back the next day and it was gone. bummer.
tons of gashapon.

that's it.

cool! you did well man. do want to elaborate on why bxh and project 1/6 sucked?

Post subject:  Re: toy stores/tokyo underground.

bounty hunter is just crappy and has such a shitty vibe. i dunno what the older store was like (looked way better from photos). might just be typical harajuku steez though haha. hardly anything in there. project 1/6 had like two things for sale in the whole shop (metal gear solid kubricks) and hardly anything on display either.

thrash out (gargamel) and real head were the coolest stores to me by far, both are amazing. also even though i didn't buy anything, original fake is awesome.

oh, and i bought the dead by gun skullbrain from SB and just realised i didn't get the cd with it. fuck.

i see. a friend who recently visited japan said the same thing about bxh. i thought thrashout was closing a few weeks ago? i bet there's tons of treasure over there?

If no one has said it yet, Real Head's shop is on the site if you click the icon.

jyranico in machiya (unfortunately shut)- Permanently or just when you were there? If it's permanent, that is very sad.

What did they do to you in BxH? :P I really like that store- just wish they would carry small girl sizes more often. Sadly, most of their clothes are cut for guys that are about 5'9 and weigh about 130lbs. The store people will sit there and glare at you, but if you ask them a question, they are always nice and helpful.

Project 1/6 has been that way for years. Ever since they started only selling Medicom items, before they used to have some killer vinyl and other makers toys.
