I cannot stop listening to Aphex Twin- Selected Ambient Works 2 this morning. I woke up at 5am and had 'Grass' in my head. It was quite bizarre- it kept playing eerily over an over in my head until I just got up and put it on. Also feeling Rhubarb, Tree, Domino, and Blue Calx.

heh...that happened to me the other day, except it was "quoth" from his polygon window moniker that was pounding through my head, so I had to put it on repeat for several hours....repetative bliss I should say...

Repetitive listening of a specific track can totally mess with your brain...

Ah, Aphex Twin is one of those artists I can forget about for a while and binge on every few months.

Flim from the Come To Daddy single is a beautiful little gem that always makes me happy.

"Are you afraid of it?"
"No, I just don't like techno."
"You would if you had robot ears."

Both ambient works albums are amazing too.

analog bubblebath is one of my favorite pieces of electronic music. (but I can't stand the aphextwin grinning face that he uses in his images/video, freaks me out)

Window Licker makes my mind explode everytime I watch it. Between Aphex Twin and Chris Cunningham (the director of the video). That is one of the best video's ever made. Does Aphex Twin have any videos besides those two?

yeah, there's one with weird teddy bears that the dude who directed 30 days of night did...aside from window licker and come to daddy, cunningham also did rubber johnny with a track from drukqs on it

I love listening to aphex twin but extended use makes me feel like a different person. Almost like an evil twisted twin.

I mostly stick to all of the truly ambient stuff.
That keeps me chill.

Boards of Canada is nice too.

MMmmmmmmm this is all muh shit, I am starting a monthly event here in Baltimore DJing weird tweaky electronic shit, Aphex and Boards and many many others are all on regular rotation, or will be once I really get it started up. SAW II is sick, one of my first real ambient albums, and still timeless. Maybe I'll have it put me to sleep tonight. :-)

Anyone else going to be representing at Mutek up in Montreal at the end of the month? Underground Resistance is supposed to show... Trust me, that in itself, even if only a _possibility_ (they were supposed to show 2 years ago) makes the trip worth it. When I saw them at the Detroit fest maybe 3 or 4 or whatever years back, it was a downright SUBLIME experience... Uhg.... heheheh.... :-D

Hey Nicky G, tell me more about that event :P

Are you going to Starscape this year?

Well, I think it's going to start as a monthly at the hookah lounge called La Marsa on Broadway in Fells Point -- maybe 2nd Friday of June will be the start date? I need to get some fliers made, start promoting it, etc. It will probably be something like 8pm through 1pm (that's when La Marsa closes due to a more limited booze license.) First few hours will be ambient/IDM/glitch/downtempo etc., then I'll move into minimal tweaky house and techno to close out the last few hours. Should be cool!

No Starscape for me, I've lived here in B-more for 12 years and have never been to a Starscape -- why start now? ;-) I did hear Slick Rick will be there, which is cool. I think Children's Story was the first hip-hop song I ever heard.
