I'm looking to get a display case for my figures. Where are some good places to look?

Well, i already have another shelf setup, so I didnt need much more shelf space to begin with. Also, i was riding with someone else, so there was a space maximum :D

No I agree, I'm going to get rid of my Ikea cases as soon as I have the money and find the right case to replace them.

If I had an office I might get a detolf...but otherwise...It's a little 40 year old virginish.

Detolf is just one of the glass cabinet options offered by IKEA.

I put together a....I think it's called Billy or something....case. Glass shelves, glass doors, and a very small frame around each door so the view isn't obscured very much (as it often is with display cases).

Personally I think it's hard to make a Detolf display look nice (I have two of them), because of the dimensions. Each shelf is just too narrow and confined. Mind you it's an OK shelf - there are just better options out there. The Billy (sp?) is 2-3 times the width of the Detolf. Plus the price is reasonable. Most importantly, it doesn't have that bland soulless look of a lot of IKEA furniture. ;)

Personally I wouldn't mind chucking the 2 Detolfs (or using them for more mundane household uses) and swapping them for a more interesting curio cabinet or something else a bit more soulful.

Bland, yes. Cheap and functional for sure. If I could stop spending money on toys for a second, I'd upgrade to some stainless and glass medical cabinets. You should check the hermetically sealed stainless and glass shelves at S7, they rule.

I have the Billy shelf too. Honestly I think it's easier to get the figures to look good in the Detolf than it is the Billy. It's so damn dark in the Billys that you have to put in a lot of extra lighting. With the Detolf you get the ambient lighting of the room that they are in, so you really only need a light per shelf. I had 2+ lights per shelf in my billy and it was still dark.

Agree 100%, I can't stop spending money on toys long enough to afford anything more than cheap ass Ikea wares :D

Does the Berby have a door on it? Most of my stuff are in huge storage bins right now, as I haven't settled on what shelves to buy. I want something that is going to let little or no dust in, as I really can't be arsed to dust them

Yes, and a rather sturdy door at that. I have my vintage Star Wars set in one. Seems to keep nearly all the dust out.
