do i just have duds or is there something that could have caused this? ie one of my warp brains (not yours arin ;)), a zag and a NORG 400% bearbrick don't glow at all even though they are supposed to.

KUBRICK glows are weak, I guess bearbricks are made from the same stuff. Have you tried givibg them a dose of sunlight? That should be strong enough to give the others a glow.

zap em with a black light

If the sun or a blacklight doesn't do the trick, you've broken them!

My worst fear with glow toys is that they will someday lose their glow...however, I do have a few toys from probably 20 or so years ago that still have some glow left in them, so it will hang around for a while...on the other hand, I've also got some "supposed" GID toys that have little to no glow when not directly under a blacklight---which reminds me, anyone want a Kozik "Bonz" Labbit for cheap? Gotta be one of the biggest non-glowing GID pieces of shit I've seen, but it was a gift from a well-wishing friend, and I don't think Frank has much to do with QC over at KR...hate to waste the acetone stripping it down, but...

Good luck with getting your glow on, Conqueror!

In my experience, if the factory cheaps out on the glow pigment then you will get a weaker glow.

The pigmentation lasts a long time, though. I have some Kryptonite Rocks from 30 years ago that still glow as brightly as anything in my collection.

conqueror, try to keep your GID toys out of sunlight or any light if possible. Only shine the light on them to charge. like many things that can wear out, GID will lose its power after successive use. I try and keep my GID at the back of the case where it gets least light. this is also why the GID oni head shipped in a black cloth bag and GID zag shipped in dark translucent blue bag: to keep out the rays. :)

this is good to know. I had no idea that GID vinyl could lose it's glow if left out in the light too long too often.

Are you using the right batteries?

If the glow Zag you're talking about is the Project 1/6 one, I know what you mean. I think they went easy on the glow pigment to get the translucent look that allows you to see the guts, so that guy only glows when its TOTALLY dark. Same with the One Up Blob DX. They'll both glow, but you've gotta stick them in a cave in the Black Forest at midnight.

But if you ask me it's totally worth it to have both glow and guts in the same figure

The Gargamel clear GID's don't shine the brightest, which I understand due to what they are. They leave more of a spectral glow, but I love them. I've never had any GID die on my though, that's weird and it sucks.

I'd probably say that the glow potential was never there in the toys to begin with if they don't glow brightly. Hmm all this makes me wonder if my glow shelves will be glowing 20+ years from now. I keep them away from direct sunlight so hopefully. It's funny how different companies have a range of glow. My M1's, Marmits, Sunguts etc glow really well, where as Gargamel, Max Toy ,Kaijuken etc don't. This toys that glow in best in my collection are definitely the big Dalek Spacebots. Those things are like beacons 24-7.

what about clear transparent toys? do they yellow if kept in the light for too long? or just sunlight?
i've seen some sales state that the transparent toy has yellowed. is there a way for the yellowiness to go away?

When I was in elementary school my parents bought a house from a guy who was a heavy smoker and it took us years and years of sealing and re-sealing the walls before gross yellow sludge from all the tar in his tobacco smoke would stop seeping out of the walls. If it can do that to drywall and plaster I can only imagine the kind of havoc it would wreak on clear vinyl...
