I preface this with a bottle of wine, i.e. I'm a bit pissed. But! I know that, or at least feel like I'm still a Fresh Meat, I don't know half as much as I want to, but since I have been on this board, I have learned a lot. I never collected Western stuff and don't like. I didn't get into this through KR or KFGU or whatever, that shit doesn't sit well with me or my shelf. I like this board cuz it showcases what I like, it attracts the other collectors, all of whom, I respect. Lately the board seems to be fielding stupid questions and comments more than it should and has in the past year and a half since I have been reading. I listen to Hardcore Punk. I talk to other fans about Hardcore Punk, when someone decides to come over and talk to us about Abba, we tell them to piss off. It's really that simple. Don't leap into a conversation with out some basic knowledge of what is being discussed. I think the same goes here. We all know that Usugrow & RxH seem to be attracting new collectors, which is great! Encouraged and embraced. But for fucks sake! Don't insult us with your 70's disco crap! and now back to your regularly scheduled Toho Cinema... Sorry for the rant. |

I feel your pain. We used to tell them to piss off, but then we got sent to the corner. This is the kinder, gentler skullbrain. Even HMS doesn't HhisS like he used to. I blame Glenn, his porn 'stache, and his newly found appreciation for Styx. |

Fuck you for not liking ABBA, I like hardcore punk, but ABBA would curb-stomp all those tattooed mamas boys with glitter boots! ANYWAY, good rant otherwise. |

I don't think the issue is what other message board people come over from or what other toys they collect. It seems more of a problem of maturity and respect. A lack of taking the time to "test the waters" so to speak before jumping in and posting away. I am a Fresh Meat, and am sure I have made some mistakes since being here, but I do my best to respect and contribute to the community and especially Super 7. Too bad all new members don't feel the respect or realize that this is a place for Kaiju, and toys sold or endorsed by S7. Not a place for Western BS and all the chaos that comes with it. I have, unfortunately, been part of that scene before and don't want to see this community go that way. Seems kind of unfortunate that this place no longer instills the fear in new members, when crossing the line resulted in ridicule and a little healthy hazing. |

Furthermore, I really don't consider ABBA disco, they were really just pop with elements of disco and due to the mainstreams limited view of "disco" them and the Bee Gees (also just pop) got lumped into it all. REAL disco is something far more interesting and, sadly, has been lost under piles of generic top 40 pop hits. Kind of like in the 80's when people called Cinderella and Poison metal or in the 90's when people said Green Day and Blink 182 were punk. Not that disco was ever as deeply rooted with the types of "scenes" both punk and metal had, but still it was different and more original and laid the path for a lot of the more interesting dance and electronic music to come. When I worked at a record store one of the managers almost got in a fight with a customer about how the Bee Gees were never disco, twas a funny scene. The guy said "The Bee Gees aint disco? No way, they INVENTED disco!" The manager nearly flipped out on him. Sorry, lots to say on the subject, I enjoy music and music history. |

Listen boyo, you're talking to a man that downed 25 whiskies, 2 absinthe and 2 jagerbombs in one evening (admittedly I did fall on my face after the absinthe). But there is some magical thing with wine, where I am fine, perfect, no problem, sober, until the last half a glass. Up until that point, I can go to bed and wake up the next morning ready to go. If I consume that last little bit, I am wrecked! I don't argue with Bacchus, for mine is not to reason why, just to shut the fuck up and drink 'em dry |

Glad that someone else here has a similar interest in music/music history. I was in a HC band from 1981-91 and we took a lot of shit from "the kids" for liking, among other things, Rush, ABBA, REM, Madonna, Cheap Trick et.al. The thing we found funny were the bands that ONLY listened to HC, and thus ALL sounded exactly the same. Not picking on you, Backtrack (and I certainly appreciate your drinking skills) but the HC/exclusivity thing (which raises its head here fairly often) kind of gets my back up. Cheers, Keith |

Actually Keith, fact of the matter is, that as I get older, I find that i listen to less and less hc and am less and less impressed with what comes out. I mean I really don't even listen to punk much anymore. It bores me. And the new stuff bores me even more. Gimme soma that rock n roll music, any old way ya choose it! So, I take no offense at all and ultimately, there's space for everything in a really lovers collection. That said, I'm here for one this and one thing only |

It always fed the fire for me. Present day I love telling kids I hate hardcore now. When in fact I really dont. Hardcore belongs in the hands of 18 year olds who can really enjoy it/play it/ live it. Old dudes need to give up at 25. Anybody else get the new My Morning Jacket album? |
