I spent the weekend at my in-laws over the weekend in Northeastern Iowa... Decaur, Ossian territory.
I was awoken by the dogs barking at two o'clock. Their was a strange humming noise like someone was riding a three wheeler on the horizon or a generator.
Jess's parents live out in the boonies and nobody or farmers can be heard for miles. I saw what looked to be a headlight that went left and right for five minutes off the horizon... almost seemed someone was using a flashlight but going way fast, the light finally shot off into the sky ... I felt very uncomfortable the rest of the night. The dogs finally stopped barking and the noise had stopped. Anyone ever see a UFO before? I just spoke with CCPFan he also had seen one in Indiana. The truth is out there.. :)

Saw a news article couple weeks ago about a guy the cops had to calm down on the phone because of his UFO siting. They had to reassure the poor fella that he was seeing the full moon.

I'm actually convinced I saw and photographed one while I was out in Schaumburg a couple of weeks ago. I have pictures if any one is interested. I half debated whether or not to send them to Fox News or something, but I decided against it lol!

Post 'em up! But don't send anything to Faux News - especially if you want to retain credibility in the photos!

OK, here goes:

Me and my girlfriend were out in Schaumburg a couple of weeks ago, the 14th June, to be exact. We had been out for sushi and were heading to the movie theater to go check out the new Indiana Jones movie (which, rocked, BTW). We decided that we would go to the theater at the ‘Streets of Woodfield’, by Woodfield Mall. It had been pretty dark and rainy that afternoon, and was threatening a thunderstorm any moment. We parked up in the car lot and made our way down to the street. As we came out at street level, there was a pretty stunning rainbow. My girlfriend wanted to take a picture of it, as she had her camera with her. While she was digging around in her bag, I noticed something in the sky that was a little unusual looking. Now, Schaumburg isn’t too far away from O’Hare, so we’re used to planes flying around all the time up that way, but this moved differently. It was very erratic. It appeared to be cylindrical and have some kind of light on one end. My girlfriend snapped a picture of the rainbow and I pointed out the object to her. She gave me the camera and I snapped a couple of frames. It was relatively small, so trying to see it with the camera wasn’t easy so I had to guess and basically ‘point and click’. Here are the pictures:

Picture one, the rainbow, object really isn’t too visible in this frame:

Here is a zoom of the picture, the object is becoming visible just below center of the frame:

http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh67 ... d/UFO1.jpg

Another zoom, it’s a little more clearly defined:

And this zoom, I darkened the contrast a little, so you can see it a little better:

I really don’t know what to make of it. These pictures have not been tampered with in any way, other than cropping and zooming, and the contrast adjustment on the last one there. I do have an interest in this subject, but think of myself as a skeptic for the most part, but this honestly left me stumped.

It’s quite amusing, as a week after I took this, my friends in the UK (where I am from originally) were telling me there were UFO stories in the news, and then my mom told me too! Weird! Lol!

Just based on those photos it looks like what I would imagine a weather balloon to look like. Though I don't know if weather balloons are still in use these days, and obviously I wasn't there to see it for myself to know if "weather balloon" is way off base.

i think weather balloons were invented to be the excuse for alien ships - i dont think a weather balloon ever even measured any weather at anytime...ever

Thats what I thought, but then I wondered why there would be one so close to an airport? Also, this had a definite light of some kind on one end of it, and it deliberately moved, it would move one way, then stop, then move another way then stop, in a sort of zig-zag motion.

Well the weather balloons I'm thinking of are the ones pictured as "swamp gas" on that chart - they're much larger than the one you posted. And by your accounts it was stormy, which could account for the "weather balloon's" zig-zagging flight pattern.
But yeah, it does seem weird that a weather balloon would be released near an airfield. Like I said, just based on those photos that was my first thought.

It'll be interesting to see what other think. As I mentioned, I am really interested in UFOlogy, the paranormal etc etc, but I kinda have the train of thought that i'll never be the sort of person to capture any kind of 'proof', but this really puzzled me. I have seen balloons flying about before, usually kids helium balloons that have been let go, but this didn't move that randomly. Weird!

Anything is possible in the Streets of Woodfield. Very strange object... almost looks like a rocket ship. I should have taken pictures but I was half asleep, although I did think about getting my in laws out of bed to take a look. Seems like their popping all over the place lately.
