The Pirate-/captain-/Skullwing sculpts are done by Secret Base -Eastern vinyl (sculpted by Japanese artists, but the sketches/drawings/paintings/ideas for it are done by Pushead Pushead is an American artist (or an artist from the "West") ...so, what toy is a skullwing, pirate, captain .... Western toy or Eastern Toy ? or do you have to say Eastern toy painted by a Western artist ??? what do you think ? I need to know this before I ca buy another pirate No, seriously, it really interests me what the correct name for it will/would be... |

I consider the Wing "Eastern" seeing that the body is all SB and that he designed it for an Eastern shop. I consider the other 2 "Western", I don't care if they're produced by SB, they're totally designed by an American artist and are totally his style. Nothing "Eastern" about them to me. Same with Flynn's stuff. Ghost Fighter I say is "Eastern" since he only did the head, but the Frankenghost and Ghostland stuff, all "Western." I don't see what it matters though, I really couldn't care WHERE on Earth toys I like are designed. When it comes to "Eastern vs. Western" vinyl toys I think of it more like "Crap vs. Non-Crap" regardless of where it's designed/made. Pus and Flynn are on the Non-Crap side. |

Not a big fan of ANY of Pushead's toys ... The 'handpaints' are some of the most over-rated crap I've ever seen. But his drawerings are among the best I've seen in this whole crazy mixed-up genre. Technically superb, and not a whiff of CAD. Always make me draw a breath. So I'll say Hawaiian. (That's about halfway between Japan & the US, isn't it?) |

But I think that about most customs. I wouldn't pay that kind of money for Bwana, or Koji, or Kiyoka. To me it's crazy to spend that kind of money when it looks like it took the person about 15 minutes (not Kiyoka). |
