thought you might be interested..... It was just announced today that there will be a special midnight screening of "The Midnight Meat Train" in San Diego for the Comicon Convention. Sorry for the short notice, but I was just notified of the details by Lakeshore about two minutes ago. Please spread the word and post it on any websites, blogs, or newsletters. We want this thing sold out in a rush of enthusiasm! The details: Friday, July 25th at midnight in the Gaslamp Stadium in San Diego as part of the Comicon Convention. Tickets are on sale now on Fandango. THERE WILL BE A SPECIAL GUEST INTRODUCING THE FILM AND TALKING ABOUT HIS LATEST CREATION…..YES, CLIVE BARKER WILL BE THERE! Thanks again for all the support and love and enthusiasm you've all shown to Clive in this effort. I'll forward the press release once Lakeshore sends it out. Again, thanks. Then, when I saw this flick coming out, I got excited. Pulled out the old SP book and read it again! |

I really like this story, but it seems like it would make a really, really short movie. Guess we shall see! |

I saw the preview at the theatre a few months ago and people were laughing quite loudly at the title. I'll check it out on video. |

The stills on the IMDB show quite a few scenes that I don't recall from the story. (Then again, it has probably been 20 years since i read the Books of Blood. ) I always thought this was the most accessible of the Clive Barker short stories and the most likely candidate to be filmed. It's going to be pretty hard to screw up unless the director is just completely inept or the writers tinker with it too much. Those are pretty big 'ifs' in Hollywood. |

Well in my opinion it's hard to fault the director if this goes bad. I'll blame the Hollywood system instead. They seem to destroy more good foreign directors by stopping any creativity they had as soon as they get to Hollywood. Ryuhei Kitamura did Versus, Aragami, Azumi, Godzilla Final Wars and LoveDeath before Meat Train. While not all of them were as amazing as Versus his style and vision are pretty obvious to anyone who's seen his films. I was really hoping this would do well for him and getting him doing more in the USA but based on how few screens it's supposed to release on I'm not holding my breath for much. |

The director's name didn't ring a bell with me.. Apparently, it is 'testing well' which may or may not be a good thing. I imagine garbage like Scream also 'tested well' |
