I used to know how to do this and it's annoying the hell out of me that I can't remember. My problem this morning is that sometimes you have a track in itunes (I use a mac) and you cannot change the song title, artist name, etc. Being a stickler for organization, I cap every word in the title and name or artist etc and it keeps reverting back to small letters whenever I play the track. I've messed with the ID3 and tried using several of Doug's apple scripts (the Capitalizing Script) and nothing seems to work. Does anyone know how to permanently delete track info so you can start fresh and have it actually take instead of reverting every time? Small letters without capitals annoy the hell out of me. I googled all morning to no avail and figured there are alot of smart cats here... Thanks Chris |

What happens if you remove a song from the library and try re-importing it? |

It lets me change it how I want to but as soon as I play the track it reverts back to all small letters. It has to be encoded like that and I'm wondering how to uncode it so it allows me to put in caps. Chris |

that's bizarre. Is it just a straight up MP3 file? edit: Nevermind, this is a confirmed bug in iTunes 7.7. You'll probably just have to wait for them to issue a patch. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1621909&tstart=0 |

also what happens if you change the title to something completely different (not just switching the capitalization) and then change it back to what you want... oh..it's a bug. and when I opened up iTunes just now it asked me if I wanted to download 7.7. Glad I said 'no.' |

I think that "bug" applies to other languages besides english. This problem specifically is with capitalization. All the words are already english. |

The bug to me sounds like a text encoding problem period. It looks like it's having problems with unicode, which would mean that it could theoretically effect capitalization as well as it treats 'a' and 'A' as if they are completely different letters. from the thread: 'The bug only happens with non Unicode ID3 tags, which are used in MP3 files. The iTunes store uses AAC which doesn't use ID3 tags (the tags are stored in another way). ' Are these files you are trying to change the name of MP3s? |

I think this problem has been around longer that the new iTune version. I've had this problem with older versions as well. Doh! Apple! C. |

Ah ok. Have you tried doing this: 'I solved my problem by selecting all MP3 tracks (not AAC or others) with still correct tags and selecting Advanced > Convert ID3 tags > ID3 tag version to v2.4' This might take a while. I'd try it with one of the songs that was breaking for you before and see if that fixes it. |

I could have swore I fixed this years ago but can't remember how. It's killing me. It was something simple too. |
