Cool that you're digging it, tavaro! Let me know how the show is, if you go. I actually saw him open for Animal Collective at Middlebury College a couple of years back, just after he had gotten his current full-band (Haunted Graffiti) situation going. I felt like I was seeing them on an off night, or maybe they were really still finding their feet as a live unit. AP himself didn't seem much into it. Coulda been the sound, tho- it was really poorly run (they finally got shit straightened out about one-third of the way thru AC's set (which was fantastic, actually)). cellar_door, I agree, that's a great song! First vid of his that I watched. It's like AP does Psychedelic Furs. Hilarious vid. Hey, was your handle inspired by Tolkien, Vanderslice, or both? |

I was actually sitting around thinking of a name the day I signed up for the board and "cellar door" from Donnie Darko just came to mind. But that that was probably inspired by Tolkien! ungawa222 wrote: First vid of his that I watched Same here, I got the video a few years ago on a vice dvd when I had a subscription. Strange and great little tune. Sounds like budgety 4-track recordings I used to make when I was in high school, but better. |

Mature Themes Some friends brought this over last night. We laughed and laughed. I really, really dig some of these tracks. Only In My Dreams may be my favorite so far. (???the Cure meets Devo meets Duran Duran and old JC Penny commercials???) |

howlin at the moon is my favorite song- saw him in oslo norway- he spraypainted his face with pink paint and sprayed his hands then started huffing it. first class weirdo saw him meltdown at pitchfork festival in 2011 then i saw him in a normal state with r stevie moore. i really like ariel pink- his cover of the smiths "this night has opened my eyes" is also really good. yeah! |
