You were in SF back in the day? Man, I remember most of those posters. Aw, look ... Sally Mutant is so young! I wish I'd saved posters from back then. The ones from '77 to '80 or so were great, some real creativity in the days of Xerox-abuse. The On Broadway was a cool space. Better than the Mab downstairs. I also liked the Savoy Tivoli for that "if there's a fire we're all dead" sort of feeling.

Yeah I worked for a SF punk mag (Damage.) Well worked is not the operative word. I crashed at their offices which was above Target Video in the Mission and in return they let me work for them. Working for Damage got me into all the shows for free so basically that's all I did for a few years. That and go on the road with a few bands.

No way! That's amazing! I remember Damage magazine very well. I kept all my copies but mom threw 'em away when I was at school, too bad. I tried looking for archived copies on the Web a few times but have never found any.

Did you know any of the guys in Crime? I used to hang out at Hank Rank (well, Henry Rosenthal's) "Complex," where he and Carola (who was in VS) still live, which was initially how I met a lot of the SF punk people before I was technically old enough to get into shows on my own (not that anyone was carding in those days.) Later knew the Re/Search, SRL and Residents peeps, as punk went to LA and Industrial took over in SF. I still see a few people from those days around, but many moved away or died or grew up LOL. Also remember the ubiquitous Target Video folks being at almost every single show, up in the front with their primitive video cameras.

Anyway thanks again for a cool thread and the memories. I could go on all day about this stuff but it'd just bore everyone.
