what transpired between those two quotes?

i gotta say though, at first glance it looks kinda flakey...

Post subject:  Re: why??

This is happening more and more recently. People ask about something, say they want it, and then disappear. The only way to respond is to say, "Yeah, it's available, but no holds. So, first come first served."

Still it's kind of frustrating to deal with people who are wasting your time. :?

I agree, but I've never had it happen before.
I think stealthtank has the right idea.

Thanks

Post subject:  Re: why??

Wow. Yeah definitely flakey.

As for holds, I don't request them...but I do think if I'm first to PM for an item, I should have 'dibs' for at least a period of time sufficient to complete payment...say minimum 12 , max 24 hours or so... I'm always surprised when I see sale threads with items that say 'Pending' for days and days and days. Those sellers are nicer than I would be in that situation!

Post subject:  Re: why??

Yeah...It's incredible lame. I would just be specific in the sales description. I usually write no holds and immediate payment required. If someone pm's and doesn't pay immediately then it goes to the next person.

I'm not sure what's worse... LD's example, or the thread where Logang posted that he was looking for a figure, and had 2 people PM him to say that had the figure but didn't want to sell it.

Oh geez. and it is made worse by not one person, but TWO doing it!! The mind wobbles.

Post subject:  Re: why??

I think people need to be ready to Paypal when they shoot someone a PM. If there are extenuating circumstances, like they can't Paypal at work or something, they should explain that. If the PMer is solid, then yeah, cut a small amount of slack. But if it's an "I'm writing about it and may want it but am not sure if I can pay for it" then no, I don't care if the message was sent 10 milliseconds after the sale went up. It's an invalid, half-chewed, hanging chad of a PM.

Anyone with Logang's RxH wants must be heavyweight collectors who are long enough here knowing what they are doing.
There must be reasons, strategies behind the intention, maybe looking for trade instead of outright sale?

Agree 100 percent. Honest communication is key. When I referred to PM-ing in my previous message, I meant a definite 'I'll take it!" PM..

Post subject:  Re: why??

For years I've had that happen to me where I post a want ad and then people PM me telling me that they have it, but don't want to sell it. I always thought it was a really passive-agressive way of trying to get me to make an offer and it pisses me off to no end. It never works, and I never make an offer.

(Well, almost never.)

I've had a local back out on a trade.
I've been lucky. Even on sale threads where they say "no holds", they still hold the item for me.
Mark, at least he pm'd you back saying that he didn't want it. Some bastards just leave you hanging. To those guys, just don't sell to them ever again.

Yep, and the easiest way to keep track is to put them on Ignore so you won't forget.

my favorite is the one who offers a trade/sale, says that they willing to take a picture of said item when they get home, so that i can see it. then no pic is ever taken or sent, all pms are read and ignored. so, let me take a stab at this, you don't want to sell or trade the item anymore? that's fine, we all have fallen into the second thoughts on an item situation. you take an item down from the shelf, and suddenly you question your reason for getting rid of it. i mean there had to be some kind of connection with it in the first place for you to spend the time and money acquiring said item, right? be kind and let me know. especially if you are a mod.
