"When the sun goes down and the moon comes up", and Halloween is just around the corner ... Not sure 'bout the ETHICS of this, but whatever. It probly seemed like a good idea at the time, and it certainly makes for entertaining viewing now: In June of 1978 The Cramps gave a free concert for patients at the California State Mental Hospital in Napa. This footage is kind of rare. I don't know if it's ever been properly released. I read somewhere that it was actually banned at one time. If you want a smaller, cleaner bite ... check out the 'Garbageman' or 'Bikini Girls With Machineguns' vids. tl:dr: One of the greatest Rock'n'Roll bands of all time (any genre, prove me wrong): The Cramps Live at Napa State Mental Hospital, 1978 :- pt.1: http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=JgMStrdpzoM (7.03) pt.2: http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=7nyBuUGao ... re=related (7.00) pt.3: http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=hm2wLExzU ... re=related (6.23) (Lux is over 60 now btw, and still rockin'! ![]() Stay Sick! Happy Halloween ... <3 Alice |

Thanks for the links! The funny thing about that footage is that the patients really aren't that different from your standard Cramps fan...that is on the drug train...get on board...wooooo-wooooo... 30 years seems like so long ago, yet not so much... |

There was a period (the exact time escapes me) when the Cramps played every Halloween in San Francisco. Here's my contribution for Voodoo Rythms... Screamin Jay Hawkins - I Put A Spell On You http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=orNpH6iyokI |

Thank you for that Alice, I love how the band is just totally at home in that environment. So great to see things like this again. |

The Cramps are still one of the greatest live bands on the planet. Saw 'em for the first time in 1980, and I've made sure not to miss any shows in the midwest since. |

That Cramps video is so awesome, I downloaded it some years ago and it's always been a favorite. I don't think I've posted this in a while, short video I made with a cramps soundtrack... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMsrUFhpJWs |

Love the Cramps. I attended a summer camp the summer between 8th grade and 9th. My summer camp counselor, Frank was previously a roadie for the cramps. He turned me on to them. told me stories of Lex humping everything on stage including the microphone, speakers, instruments etc and gave me the CD 'bad music for bad people'. that summer I turned into a teenage goo goo muck. my parents came to visit and found Frank smoking a joint behind the our cabin. This was also the summer I got weed high for the first time. pierced by ears with a safety pin and dyed my hair pink. also the first summer I really got some action. Frank brought the HS girl's camp counselor into our cabin (mine and 2 of my great friends) and they told us everything we needed to know about girls. my bunkmate ended up sleeping w/ her a few weeks later. (he was 1 year older than me at the time) Frank also told us stories of all the crazy drugs he had done and all the crazy sex he had. really got us ready for the high school world and was a priceless experience. I think back on that summer and just remember the yellow covered 'bad music' CD Frank had given me and the great time I had listening to it. wanted to share that. thanks. |
