And Dean's right, you should treat yourself to something, but remember that you can be ridiculously sensible and still have fun. Go to the dollar store and get a bag of plastic dinosaurs. ;p

My condolences and appropriate birthday greetings.

On one of my birthdays (early 20s I think) I spent the whole freaking day in hospital with my girlfriends kid sat in the waiting room being incredibly jealous and selfishly worrying about my ice cream cake with the yummy cookie crunchy bits in in.
All she had was a minor ear infection for fucks sake!
What about my cake!!! :x ...sat there on it's own... melting... while I watch crap hospital telly reading Heat and risking old person disease....

on my 30th i had a head on collision that totalled my car and sent the passenger in the other car away in an ambulance

and it was all my fault - i turned on a red light i thought had changed to green

You are not alone, lots of people are getting laid off in the bay area. Try to stay positive.

On my 28th, I had to work at my dead-end music store job (10:00am-6:00pm) then I had to come back for mandatory inventory (8:00pm-2:00am)

Oh no! That's terrible! I say ride those unemployment checks for all you can... When my wife's company shut their doors, those checks really helped.
