anyone suggest a store(s) that sells online that has day of the dead sugar skulls, wood carvings, stuff like that?

i'd like to find something actually made in mexico/south america if possible... or at least somewhat authentic

the only stores I know are not online.

There's a place in New York, a place in Philly and a place in Epcot that come to mind.

this place has a website, but no online shopping. if you knwo what you want, you could call

http://www.eyesgallery.com
(in philly)

http://www.lasirenanyc.com/
in NYC

both specialize in day of the dead. the epcot place is in (obviously) mexico. you could also call disney.

I used to live near this store ... their merchandise is about as autentico as you can find outside of Mexico (online.)

http://www.casabonampak.com/diadelosmuer.html

I know this doesn't help right now but your best bet is to visit Mexican bakeries during the last couple of weeks of October. They're likely to have sugar skulls and calavera sculptures at that time, sometimes also papel picado and of course pan muerte.

eBay can be okay but beware ... lots of overpriced tourist junk sold as "authentic."

The stuff they have in Epcot is unbelievable! Truly amazing quality. Not all dia de los muertos, but just painted wood figures in general. I thought I had photos, but I could only find this one...

I bought a devil doll from here when I was like 19. I think someone ended up burning it at a party. Eyes Gallery is amazing if anyone ever gets a chance to visit it while in Philly.

no I bought them in bulk, I just pack them individually and I made the header from a scan of an old VHS movie cover

those luchadores are like the army men in the usa, really cheap crappy quality and probably you get poison if you eat the plastic or the paint, but I use to play a lot with them when I was a kid, almost everybody about my age played with those, there's also fight rings made of just a piece of wood with 4 nails one on each corner and rubber bands

There is another rad place in Austin called The Turquoise Door. It's got a ton of Dia de los Muertos stuff, Mexican tin art, and Oaxacan alebrijas. Very cool place, but doesn't have a website. They feature this really great artist who makes demented monsters out of paper mache. If you're ever in Austin it's on South Congress.
