Just heard this from my wife - totally fuckin' sucks. Fun House is probably my all-time favorite album, and it certainly wouldn't have been possible without Ron. RIP, brother. |

That does suck...I just read where the Stooges are a nominee (overdue) for induction into the R&R Hall of Fame this year too... The Stooges are one of those few bands that legitimately changed the face of rock and roll...RIP Ron... |

It's really sad news. The Stooges were truly an amazing band, obviously he was such an integral part. Rest in peace. |

Anyhoo, I'm gonna go all contraversial here and say: Raw Power > Funhouse James Williamson > Ron Asheton To my mind, "Funhouse" (& the 1st album) are driven by the bass and drums. Asheton's guitar adds only COLOR to this, and it's a very obviously Hendrix-influenced color as well. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't kill himself after the Stooges last album. I listened to ONE TRACK (something about "I got wood") and it just made me think MORE Rock Stars should do the Kurt Cobain thing. Maybe 'Straight' James can be persuaded to rejoin the Stooges now? I can only dream! Anyway, time to edit my sig I feel ... |
