have you ever ate so much peanut butter in one sitting that you get that extreme pain in your chest? it's like heartburn, but more severe, and it feels like a damn rock is in your chest/throat! you can't breathe, or talk, or even move. you just kinda slump over a bit and stand there, waiting for it to pass. work was boring last night, and all i had to amuse me was half a jar of pb and a loaf of wonder bread. i consumed the entire lot in the first hour. i should have spaced it out over the full shift. btw, wonder bread is the best bread ever. so soft, so starchy! |

Well, there was probably about 1,330 calories in half a jar of PB, and 1,980 calories in a loaf of bread, so....you possibly consumed 3,310 calories in one sitting. maybe you were having a heart attack! |

It was probably all the bread more than the peanut butter. Processed bread breaks down quickly which means increased blood sugar levels. |

Wonder bread?! Isn't that fake bread? Was the PB Peter Pan? They had a recall last year for salmonella. I mean consuming that much would make anyone sick, but if you had to at least get some whole grain bread and creamy JIF. |

I actually eat LOTS of peanut butter. I love the protein and the taste aint bad either. It's never hurt my chest, but I've never eaten half a jar or more at once. |

Roger wrote: So does anyone know if silver_lining_man is still alive today? still alive, but i've felt better. still getting those recurring chest pains since the pb incident. man, i hope it's not the solmanila. that "tainted" pb was around minnesota too! so, as a common sense supporter, don't do it. no matter what your hunger and boredom at work tell you to do. i'll definitely have to check out that natural peanut butter stuff, may be better on the greasy oil and calories! |

Maybe it has nothing to do with the peanut butter. 'Chest pains' doesn't sound like gastro intestinal distress. Go see a doctor if you have reoccuring chest pains. |

You should really go to the doctor if you are having issues after eating peanut butter. It could be part of the salmonella outbreak, and leaving that untreated could be bad. |

Yeah, definitely go to the doctor's, and don't be ashamed to admit that you ate an entire jar of peanut butter and a loaf of bread, they've heard worse. |

Yes, see a doctor just in case. It is more than likely just a really bad case of heartburn, which can last for several days (and hurt like a b*tch). At 27, you are around the age when junk food can start to do things to you that you might otherwise not have experienced when younger. |

better safe than sorry, but if it's any relief, I have also suffered heartburn from consuming too much peanut butter in one sitting, by slabbing way too much PB on one half of a sandwich. The standard big brands use Hydrogenated vegetable oil, which i find much harder to digest(especially in larger quantities) than say....natural peanut butter filled with monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. |
