http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090128/ap_ ... ost_office Now who is in favor of the post office becoming privatized? I seriously do not understand how a government branch can consistently operate in the red. |

USPS does an incredible job. It'll just make it very difficult for me to mail packages as Saturdays are pretty much the only time I can get to the PO. |

With the exception of packages...I really don't know why we need mail at all. All bills can be paid online...you can email anyone. There really doesn't seem to be a need. |

You are right. Sometimes I forget about that. But maybe in 20 years everyone will. |

and even those of us with a computer can't pay all bills online. I know we have a few that need to be mailed. Also- mail is awesome. Maybe its just growing up pre-computer, but i'd rather get a letter, a card or a photo, or a zine that an email any day. People also have subscriptions, send postcards, and lots of other things that aren't packages. I agree that losing a day is not a big deal, but I wish it was a weekday. Work Tuesday-Saturday or something. I'll never ever get to the post office in this case. |

That would be a much better schedule. Lots of stuff is closed on Mondays anyway - and all sorts of Federal holidays are on Mondays. You should email them! |

They were actually thinking of cutting Tuesdays as that's their slowest day during the week. |

i'm voting for saturday to be cut. i'm always running around and out of town on that day, and it is kind of a drag if i am expecting a package when saturday rolls around, and if i'm gone i worry that the postman decided to be a douche and leave it on the front steps for the crackhead neighbors to take and carve out the ass end of my kaiju to use as some experimental crack pipe. the postman hates me, my wife, and i'm pretty sure he hates my kid. but he loves my dog. ok, i'm getting off subject here.... |

I would also rather they cut out a weekday, rather than Saturday. Heard a bit of postal trivia that in the early 1900's the mail was delivered 7 days a week, but Christian's had Sunday mail service stopped for religious reasons. |
