About every 6 weeks Apple dumps another Tokyo Shock release into its iTunes Store. I think they feel sorry that clue-free midwesterners such as myself have no luck finding old Japanese videos like Oghan Bat and Mirrorman on DVD... (my torrents hardly ever work. They remind me of newsgroup binary feeds, I get impatient, I get pissed, I delete). So this month it was "Tokyo Gore Police". Awesome. Part drive-in, part Cronenberg, part Fellini. More arterial spray in the first 90 seconds then in the first quarter of "Ichi the Killer". A landmark in taste and art. Am I the last guy here to blunder into this series? ![]() PS; anyone know where I can pick up a copy of "Tokyo Decadence"? |

I saw it at the New York Asian Film Fest last year. Great stuff. I can help you out if you want to see some Mirror Man also. PM me. |

If you get a chance, hit up Best Buy for some cheap Tokyo Shock stuff. Last time I was in the States they had these two DVD packs of Thai horror movies for like $12 each. I got Art of the Devil, which is a pretty cool movie about a businessman who spurns his teenage lover after getting her pregnant and how she uses MAGIC to exact revenge on him and his family. The part with the eels is the best Also, was Tokyo Decadence a movie? I know there's a bondage/subculture club event that they have in Tokyo by that name, but maybe it just steals the name from the movie? |

Evidently it is a movie as well. Buddy of mine is looking for it, sold me on the search. To think that it all started out with bedtime stories and cartoons, ah well. |
