I really hope and wish stuff like this was true, too. But then the other side of my brain kicks in and says "OK, what would it eat? What would it mate with? Even assuming it lives a really long time and has a very small amount of babies why haven't we ever seen a gigantic snake like this before?" You figure in the amounts of food and space a breeding population of those would need, and it just makes it hard to believe, no matter how much you want to. |

A huge snake would be believable if there were equally huge prey for it around. Komodo Dragons used to be about 25 feet long when they had dwarf elephants to eat. |

Sorry to burst the bubble, but apparently this guy is F.A.K.E. They found the first picture on another site without the snake (just a picture of the river) and the second was apparently an entry in a Worth1000 Photoshop contest. Guess Ice Cube will just have to take the weekend off

A lot of the myths surrounding these animals are prehistoric, that is to say, they evolved in a time when the world had much richer oxygen, plant life and animal life to support the diets of these super predators. Sabretooth tigers, Prehistoric Grizzlys all fall into this category. Those animals used to be real Kaiju. Unfortunately with the amount of carbon floating around in the air and dwindling supplies of animal/plant life at their disposal to eat has lead to either the demise or evolution to smaller forms for most of them. The only super preds that are still around in their ancient form are the crocs and sharks, and probably some deep sea critters. |

I'm assuming this is a species of python being in south east asia an anaconda ( a species of boa =not python) is out of the question so it could be a VERY large Reticulated python (max length 35 feet = recorded). a snake 100 feet long can eat anything from a pig to small horses (people for sure) and it would not have to eat for several months. What would it mate with? A snake even at this size would not have to have a mate of equal size. I'm assuming again that this snake is female (usually larger than males) I would say a male from 15 -up feet would do the job. Why haven't we ever seen gigantic snakes like this before? You'd marvel at how big these jungle ranges can be. Pythons and boas are reclusive animals, special with large examples that would hardly move around. The animals do not migrate so the area they move around in would be small even during mating season. We are still discovering new animals in the rain forests. And an animal like this can easily go unseen for it's entire lifetime. Natives alway always report sitings of large snakes but are always disregarded as exagerations. So maybe they are being seen. Pythons and Boas do not stop growing. As long as they live and eat they will continue to grow. Not saying this photo is real but it certainly possible. |

Wasn't that claim of the 35 foot reticulated python disputed and eventually disproven? Retics are nasty. Used to work in a place where they had one in a large cage, it would strike at the glass sometimes when I walked buy. |

IMO... The photos are terrible. In the first the water is moving away evenly like the snake was a speed boat rather then a giant undulating snake moving side to side. In the second the snake is straight and practically floating on top of the water, if it was moving the body would not be straight and if it wasnt moving all but the head would be submerged. I have had the great fortune in my life to have been to Borneo three times. When going up river you often see snakes and monitors. Those that arent moving only have their heads above water. Also, the jungle is dense and I cannot imagine a 100ft snake managing it's body through the forests let alone the search for food (wild boar, baby elephants, monitors and crocs, orangs, and the occasional tourist). Plus, you'd really have to have other giant snakes for one to grow so large. like a freak anaconda. But Borneo doesnt have giant snakes, although it does have a flying snake. My next adventure to Borneo (when I have the money) is Danum Valley in Sabah. I want to spend about 10 days there hiking jungle trails. |

Yeah, I had a feeling it would be a fake. Oh well, I watch every single episode of monster quest even though I know they won't find what they're looking for, I guess half the fun of this stuff, is never expecting it to be real yet hoping it is. |
