Sure, going to Japan is fun for a good toy hunt, but ahhh....what is a trip without good food and 'ins' with locals, right? I am a staunch follower of Tony Bourdain, and am looking for any of my fellow SB'ers (or their connections) to give me and my sister a little "No Reservations" company while we are in Tokyo next month. Whether just for a single meal, or a couple of times carousing town to experience the "real" Tokyo, I would love your help! |

Yah Anthony Bourdain is a cool dude. You've gotta hit that sushi joint he went to where there was basically just room for a few people and thats it. yum. |

A couple folks have messaged me asking about Bourdain...sorry, he's a legend in my own mind I suppose. The Tokyo episode was this season, so I could not get clips yet. Here is one from the Hong Kong episode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtxwX9B6KfA |

^^^ 2/3's is correct. I remember my first time there visiting family members and we went by a noodle shop by the train station. There were literally 4 bar stools. People just go in, wait in line, eat, leave. I like Bourdan a lot... he's very entertaining and a good read. |

I love watching his show 'cause he makes you feel like you're right there with him and he's a no BS type of dude which is respectable. Having never been to Japan I didn't know there are many sushi joints like that but that's cool to know. And the episode I saw was definitely a couple years ago...only thing I remember from the episode was him going to a baseball game and eating the Japanese variation of a corndog or something... |

Wouldn't you rather hit the joints visited by Andrew Zimmerman? Turtle soup? Fugu me? I remember the Hawaii episode on Bourdain's show- kind of unreal to see him eating with the guy that ran the little lunch shop in our office building. |
