Just saw that the American releases subtitles are fucked. Does anyone know where I can get a bootleg of the one with the original proper subtitles ? |

OH this sucks! I just got the Blu and didn't realize they had changed the subs. Well I'm going to watch it and see how much of a difference there is. I did hear the dub version is awful. One of my absolute favorite films last year! |

The shitty part is not only are these subtitles really poor and inaccurate in a simplified way. This company is releasing two other subtitles films later this year which I absolutely loved in the theater.. Timecrimes and Dai-Nipponjin. Probably going to wait on buying both now. |

Looks like a fix is in the works. (glad I slacked on buying this dvd last week!) From The Digital Bits: Quote: In other news today, you might recall that we recently reviewed Magnet's Let the Right One In on Blu-ray Disc. Well, it's just come to our attention that the DVD and Blu-ray versions have English subtitles that differ substantially from those of the theatrical art house presentation, in that much of the subtle nuance has been lost and many original lines of dialogue are untranslated entirely. Unfortunately, having only seen the film once in theatres, I wasn't familiar enough with the translation to spot the differences. But Icons of Fright has posted some examples of just how different the subtitles are. We contacted Magnet directly on this issue this afternoon, and they were quick to respond as follows: "We've been made aware that there are several fans that don't like the version of the subtitles on the DVD/BR. We had an alternate translation that we went with. Obviously a lot of fans thought we should have stuck with the original theatrical version. We are listening to the fans feedback, and going forward we will be manufacturing the discs with the subtitles from the theatrical version." We asked Magnet some follow-up questions, specifically how people will be able to identify the new discs, when they'll be available in stores and if there will be an exchange program for those who have the existing version. Here's what they said: "There are no exchanges. We are going to make an alternate version available however. For those that wish to purchase a version with the theatrical subtitles, it will be called out in the tech specs box at the back/bottom of the package where it will list SUBTITLES: ENGLISH (Theatrical), SPANISH." The no exchange thing is going to upset many that have already purchased the disc, and understandably so. We're at least encouraged to see that the title is being corrected. We'll let you know when the discs are available, and rest assured we're letting Magnet know that an exchange program might be a wise idea... |

I'm SO glad that I saw this. I actually asked a friend who runs a dvd company to order me the blu ray last week, and we found out it was cheaper on amazon than from his distributor, so I was going to get it there. So glad that my cheapness & laziness paid off for once! |

What the hell were they thinking. This movie became an instant classic with a huge amount of buzz...did they think we just wouldn't notice. I hope the exchange thing happens...or feel my wrath via email |

I just saw this the other day. Watched the dubbed version since there was 10yr old present who didn't want to be reading a movie. The "fix" is good to know. I'll wait for the re-release with subtitles. I thought the movie was alright. I think the dubbing probably made everything sound really dumb. just not the same. |

Honestly, how could you watched a dubbed film? I wouldn't be able to do that. That would absolutely ruin the film for me. |

saw the dubbed version the other day because i was told they went from the subtitles of the original version . what i liked most about this movie is how much it makes you think about it after its over . you think oskar is a good kid ?he has no remorse and would gladly have all his enemies killed . the bullies all at one time or another feel like they should stop what they are doing or feel regret . some people think this has a happy ending and i really didnt see it that way at all . |

I don't think Oskar was good or bad. He was a typical bullied kid and that got pushed too often and fought back. He didn't go looking for the fight, the fight came to him. Justifiablly standing up for yourself doesn't have to followed by remorse. But, it could be that I am a cold-hearted bastard |

Who is the older man that lives with Eli? Is it really her father or does she just say that? If it isn't her father why is he helping her? |

He is Eli's "Renfield". What Oskar will become. Hakan is one in a long string of "servents" to Eli. He does help Eli, he's just to old and inept now. |
