I was just watching a movie the other night on the history channel called "Fooling Hitler" which described the allies using this technique effectively in WWII including D-Day! |

Check this out! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Battle_of_El_Alamein#Allied_plan http://www.channel4.com/history/microsites/R/real_lives/jasper.html They basically filled the African deserts with fake tanks and mirrors to fool the nazis. Really cool stuff. Channel 4 did a documentary on it ages ago. |
