Just got a new Salvatore One Black espresso machine and thought I'd share. Would also like to see some other espresso set ups fellow espresso fanatics might be hiding at home ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

That Sama is sweet! Don't see those too often. I have nothing but good things to say about the Bialetti, i have one that I use as my "spare tire" when past machines have been down for repairs. |

Yeah, it's been great, seems a little finicky with the temperature to get good crema though. What would some recommendations be for good starter machines? Something quality that should do the job well for a while, but preferably not too overly expensive... |

I'm pretty flexible, I just don't really need the best of the best. I'm not really sure where to even start though, so definitely open to any suggestions, even if they're a little pricey. magillagorilla wrote: Quote: What would some recommendations be for good starter machines? I will warn you that I came down with upgrade-itus once I moved up from a krups machine. But I would start with a Rancilio Silvia (approx $533) and a good grinder. You can also get a super automatic the grinds brews etc all at the push of a button, you wont get the best espresso not as good as a Silvia but comparable to most chain coffee houses. I can recommend some good websites for ordering or research if you are interested |

Cool, thanks. I just interneted this great sounding place pretty close to me that has that one on-sale. I'm going to read up on stuff a bit more and save up a little money before I get into it. Now looking at skullbrain is going to cause me to buy toys and coffee making appliances... brutal! |

Anybody have any good tips for using a moka pot (like the counts)? My coffee comes out pretty bitter. I've tried doing different grinds/heats but can't hit a good combo. |

I've tried doing different grinds/heats but can't hit a good combo. although they say to put in cool water, i was advised by a barista here at Ritual in SF (super coffee-snobs) that the brew is less bitter if you pre-heat the water to boiling in a teapot and then pour it into the reservoir. then screw on the top and heat the mokapot. bottom will be hot from boiling water, so grab it with a dish towel before screwing on top half. i've also found that i like using pre-ground espresso from the grocery store better than exotic coffee beans i grind myself. my current fave is the very affordable brand Medaglio d'Oro, which I first tried in Spain. Also, the Illy pre-ground espresso works good for slightly more re-fined tastes. |
