I'm sure there are alot of Pittsburgh fans here but I loathe Crosby...loving that they're down 2-0 to Detroit. Detroit is really getting it done with Osgood being solid and the younger guys stepping up.

Isn't his nickname Cindy Crosby?
I think the Wings will wing it again. Osgood is playing rather well for Osgood. They're getting goals from 3rd and 4th liners and no Dats either...but they are looking a bit sloppy at times. Pens are relying too much on Sid and Malkin. Guerin and Satan are not scoring. Brad Stuart has more points than Miro Satan. Let's face it, Sid and Evgeni are still kids and you can see it in the way they play. When things don't go their way, they get really frustrated and lose composure all too easily. You won't win games that way...much less the Cup.

I think my main issue with Crosby is that the league so wants him to be the "man" and he's not the man. All these comparisons in the media to him being the next "great hockey player that dominates the sport" are completely unfounded. The NHL is just trying to boost ratings and bank on a young star. While Crosby and Malkin are good players they are no Gretzky. In fact there will never be another Gretzky, so the comparison is moot. To me they just seem like good players in say the same way Teemu Selanne is or was.

Detroit on the other hand is a solidly built team that doesn't have to rely on one or two guys to get it done.

Oh and you're right Cindy definitely gets his panties in a bunch. After game one, he totally slashed Maltby as Detroit was lining up to thank Osgood. Dude game over? Go pound sand in the locker room, don't pull a cheap shot like that. Same with Malkin last night. Pittsburgh is getting away with a lot of cheap shots after the whistle, and while Detroit remains completely composed for the most part Zetterberg had enough of the BS. Malkin can't even throw a proper punch, what was he trying to do? Slap Zetterberg?

There will never be another Wayne Gretzky. Any comparison to Wayne will never be close.

Hahahaha! Wayne should have never stood behind a bench. I'm hoping the Pens win at least one of the games so I'll be able to watch another game over the weekend.

as far as Sid's skill goes, he really is top notch. sure he's not arrogant but he really is a cry-baby on the ice. someday, and i hope it's soon, someone is gonna sit him down and tell him to grow up. i wouldn't mind it if the Pens win this year. it just doesn't look like it so far...but then with a few more games to go, you just never know. Guerin and Satan might start scoring. Pens' D might start to shut down the Wings' forwards...and all the guys i play hockey with will be sad. it doesn't really matter to me who wins.
the days when 1 guy can carry a team are long gone.

Looks like maybe we have a series on our hands now that Crosby and Malkin have reemerged. Those first 2 games Detroit basically nullified them. Having Osgood in the role of a "wall" certainly helped too. Still think Detroit is by far the stronger team, and better coached to boot. They're deep and aren't relying on one or 2 guys to get the job done. However, with a couple of ex Bruins on the 'Quins (Guerin and Gill), I wouldn't mind seeing them take home the cup. As long as the action is good, I'm happy. Oh and IMO, Crosby > Ovechkin. That guy just rubs me the wrong way.

Crosby still hasn't broken free from Zetterberg. I'm hoping he's saving his breakout game for tomorrow night. Would love to see at least a 6 game series. Malkin is a beast this year and has made it easy to forget about Hossa. Fleury played well last night and it is good to see that Osgood is human after all.

Pittsburgh fans (including myself) have been spoiled these last several years with the Steelers and Pens. I think sometimes we forget to enjoy the ride, it's not always about bragging rights.

It's hard to dislike a franchise that does everything right and plays with class, like Detroit. Babcock is a heluva coach, too.

It has been an entertaining series so far. Go Pens!

I like that we've got ourselves a series.

It's too bad the last 2 games are starting to remind me of 1995. I'm starting to worry. Come on old men!

Post subject:  Re: Stanley Cup

Well at least the rest of the games are on NBC, so I can watch them! Babcock needs to put in Datsyuk, he's the best defensive forward in the league, and a passing wiz. No way the Pens are taking 2 out of the next 3 when two of those games are in Detroit.

Post subject:  Re: Stanley Cup

I think the pens are playing MUCH stronger hockey in the last 2 games than they have throughout the playoffs. No doubt Detroit is a powerhouse, but I think the Penguins can take it this season. I think that if they hold their confidence and stay strong offensively in Detroit, they will have no problem winning the cup at home. GO PITTSBURGH!

What the hell happened with Pittsburgh tonight? Christ, how many times are you gonna get burned on a power play before you stop taking dumb penalties.
