How many 'brainers play drums? Let's see some past or present setups, stories, mishaps, wishlists, etc.
I used to be a "Drum Department Sales Manager;" fortunately, I just go to college & collect "dolls" now...
I'll post some pics in a bit.

Played for about 13yrs then had to pack them away. haven't played in about 5yrs. I just got a practice set and it should be coming in this week...! I'm stoked to finally be able to play again--even it it is quiet play.

Played a Pearl Export Series Drumset. It was my first one and my main one. Nothing fancy, but it held up all these years. "Deep Ocean" color. I took the smallest tom off and played a 4-pc. 16" and 18" crashes, 22" ride, 14" hi hat. All paiste except for the hi hat (Zildjan). played with Aquarian coated head on snare and Remo pinstripe 2 ply coated on the toms. EVANS clear head 2ply on the Bass Drum.

I never cared much for specs, but I think that's what I played. I was in a band for a long time. we played rock-indie-emo-whateveryoucallit.

I do play drums. I have played with a few different set ups. My favorite using a slingerland 28" kick ,a slingerland 18" floor , a ludwig 14" supra-phonic and nothing but a crash and a big bell ride. It took forever to get that monster kick just right but when I did it was fucking sweet. Prefer not to use toms with the exception of floor. I have played in nothing but punk bands and one americana/country band.

Favorite drummers off the top of my head Alan cage, chuck biscuits, glenn kotche, Mario Rubalcaba, mackie jayson(who I saw perform the other night) and of course marky ramone.

I've been playing drums for about 15 years now, currently using a Pearl Export, forest green with maple hoops. Saving up for some customs from Dark Horse Percussion. I play all large Zildjian cymbals, 14 inch New Beat Hi-hats, 21 inch mega bell ride, 20 inch K Dark Ride for one crash and a 20 inch Ping Ride for the other crash. I've been playing in Hardcore/Punk and Metal bands for, well, ever. I love big booming drums and cymbals.

If you like big cymbals, I once had a 28" (that's right twenty-eight) Zildjian crash/ride/ who knows what it's supposed to be once you get that big. It was ridiculously heavy; I was afraid to put it on even the beefiest stand. After you hit it a couple times, it started to wobble & shimmy in an indescribable way. And the wash afterwards lasted forever. Picked it up for $150 in a local store... sold it for much more. I should've kept it, because it was obviously some proto/custom job, but for me, it really was quite unusable.

Whoa. I would have loved to hear the wash on that one.

I had a 27" (or was it 26") ride but sold it to a friend since I never play anymore.

I love large washy rides.

I saw Motorpsycho in April and the drummer had the largest hi-hats I've ever seen. It was like he was playing 2 crashes. Amazing band and drummer btw.

i played for a couple years.
my friends and i got together and covered some punk (mostly ramones) and some metal (mostly the "easy" ones like breaking the law, for whom the bell tolls, killers, etc)
"the cyborgz" was taped across my bass drum.
i had some entry level set i bought for $100 with cheap cymbals and all.

both on the opposite ends of the drum spectrum, but both can tear it up!

Tim "Herb" Alexander? Man, Primus was great when he played with them!
I can't say I ever played drums, but I played around on them. I even learned how to play a few Tim Alexander bars from a Primus song - can't remember which at the moment...it's been so long since I listened to them. It was such a tough rhythm! [edit] Had to find the song - it's "Year Of The Parrot" off of Tales From The Punchbowl.

I've had the pleasure of meeting Thomas Lang at a clinic (no, not that kind of clinic!). He's another monster player that doesn't warm up or anything... just sits down & starts killing it!

Yes, they are DW, however the only way I could afford them was because they treat you pretty well on wholesale.

Geek Specs:
Maple 8x6, 10x8, 12x8, 14x11 Floor Tom, 18x16 Kick covered in Green Broken Glass
Gibraltar Rack, Pearl Boom Arms, Tama Pedals, & various cymbals... but damn, I love Paiste!
The finish choice is a tribute to John Bonham's Green Sparkle Ludwig kit, just a lot smaller.(and therefore easier to carry, etc)

Interesting note: REMO-made djembes, and other products that use the Fiberskyn3 drumhead material are actually "vegan."
