OK I really have been reading a lot of manga lately to the point where I didn't focus on toys for more than 8 months. Any recommendations that are slightly less well known? 2009 completed Bokko 20th Century Boys/21st Century Boys Ichi the Killer MPD Psycho Homunculus Pluto This year, I also re-read all of Akira but the color versions, Domu and Death Note. I am also a huge fan of Junji Ito and Matsumoto Taiyo. |

BoBoBo is silly, but fun. One I've REALLY enjoyed reading is "Oishinbo". It's a cooking/cuisine manga, but I really enjoy reading it. Viz Signature looks like has some interesting stuff coming out: http://www.sigikki.com/ |

My favorite of all time is Miyasaki's Nausicca Valley of the Wind. It's been reprinted a few times, so I am not sure how many volumes are in the latest version. (The Viz edition I have is 4, I think.) Miyasaki produced it originally in syndicated form to sway studio execs into letting him make the movie. The manga's story is a bit more developed & every panel is drawn by the man himself. |

Monkey, check out the MPD Psycho live-action mini-series that was on a few years ago in Japan (It's torrented somewhere out there I'm sure). Takashi Miike directed it! |

Thanks for all your recommendations. The cooking ones seem interesting.I can imagine I will constantly be going out to a nearby Japanese restaurant if I read this. When I was getting into 20th Century Boys, they kept eating Ramen and made me want it all the time haha. My wife is currently reading the manga about making bread, can't remember the title and she likes it. Yes I know about One Manga!! I can't get any good manga comics in Hong Kong because they are all in Chinese. I was recommended by a friend to read Bokko. Amazing series, story is set in China around 200BC, about a guy from Bokko who helps to defend neighbouring country from war by using strategies to outwit his enemy. Reminds me the fun I had watching the Lord of the Rings battles!! If the English version is not available in the US, I can upload it for whoever wants to read it. I got the French scans and translated in English. PM me (its not on OneManga). So I have started to download the fan translations, much like the same files they have on OneManga. I like them because they are also faster in the releases than the offiicial ones in English and I cannot wait. I am using a great software on the iPhone called ComicZeal where I transfer these files onto the phone. So between breaks from my design work (I work from home) I am constantly on my phone reading comics lying on the sofa. I have read Gantz a few years back, and tried to follow the new series. Amazing art. Didn't like the animé as much. One other one I forgot to mention is Vagabond which I like too. I didn't know they have live action for MPD, will check it out. |

I'm now reading 20th century boys, recommended for everyone here. One of the best manga IMO... You should try MONSTER by Naoki Urasawa = writer of 20th century boys and Pluto. I read some others manga translated to Indonesia language but have different title with original japan or english version. Big fans of manga but dont read much now until started 20th century boys recommended by my friend. Amazed by it....... childhood experience amazing............ |

Rin-ne. Only one volume is out. Pure Rumiko gold. ![]() And for those who can get their hands on this, Cornigule by Takashi Kurihara. Minimal dialogues in french. You can judge this book by it's cover !

I am reading Ikigami. Nice art (like Death Note) and the story is very interesting. It was made into a movie as well, but haven't seen it.
