Saw this on Flicker just now and I think its one of the creepiest photos I have seen in awhile :
Anyone else come across any pics lately they find disturbing ?

Where's the picture of the pile of 'Kung Fu Grip" hands? OK...aside from that remark. I saw a gallery showing of this photographer (Joel Peter Witkin) some time ago in Santa Fe. A friend of mine at the time made some props for him. The show was a freaky juxtaposition of unsettling subject matter set in serene classical poses. Freaked me out. (BTW - the body parts are not props)

For some reason that photo reminds me of Norman Seef's 1970s portraits of rock bands. It's not really creeping me out. Probably because of the fake sepiatone. It makes it look like a view into an antique curiosity cabinet. Plus I had that GI Joe as a kid ... maybe that's it. Who didn't decapitate their GI Joes now and then? |

This photo has always creeped me out. It featured in a unexplained book i had as a kid. This picture was taken in 1959 by Mrs Mabel Chinnery. Apparently no one was in the backseat when the picture was taken. Mrs Chinnery recognized the person in the backseat as the ghost of her dead mother whose grave she was just visiting. She staked her reputation on the authenticity of the photograph.

I dunno, that's a weird one. When it comes to it, is that the FULL photo? If so, why take a picture of an empty car with that particular window in the center? Seems kinda off to me. Unless I'm missing something? |

The photographer (Mrs Chinnery) took a photo of her husband driving, or seated in the car. It's who's seated behind him that's disturbing. |

My grandad took a pic of my grandmother under a big tree in Hong Kong in the 60's. What came out was some other person standing where my grandma was. It was in the newspapers and later they burned the photo...wished I got to see it. |

I thought the person in the front was the "ghost." Still bullshit, I mean, I love this stuff but in the end there's usually something behind it all. Just weird lighting forming a shape, a set up all together, someone lying. Rarely do I see a picture like this and think "THAT'S CRAZY!" but I just have to be the skeptic. I still find it really fun, so don't take it as me peeing on the party, I wanna see more anyway!
