Starring Rorschach as Freddy Krueger.

C'mon Hollywood, really? Sigh.

At least it has Clancy Brown, for what it's worth. And OMG John Connor.

Classics should never be remade, BUT Depp should play Freddy to at least make it full circle.

one of my all time favortie movie quotes is from johnny depp in the og nightmare.
"i'm gonna punch your ugly lights out whoever you are.....kitty kitty!"

and you can't forget the infamous:
"up yours with a twirling lawnmower!"

those better be in the remake.

but i'm guessing not, with rob zombie dropping out the excessive use of the word "totally" in his slaughter of halloween. the reason why all these remakes pale in comparison to the orgiinals is not that film makers nowadays have no talent, but they totally remove the verbal charm of the characters involved, and make them hip and "someone you can relate to." totally.

They going to keep pumping them out because from a cost perspective in the current economy it works for the studio. I'm not the biggest supporter of the remakes Platinum Dunes has done. For the most part I have disliked them. I found the Chainsaw remake to be pretty average but there's some pretty tracking shots and a lot of cgi assisted shadow in the film that looks pretty good. The F13 remake I liked it's sense of malice but I didn't think the kills were very memorable and the film pretty much is only fun for the first 25min. The Hitcher was horrible and I remember wanting to walk out of the theater in the first 10min because of that awful emo pop song that just seemed it would never end. Amityville Horror? Never saw it, too many people got to it first and warned me off.

Nightmare may be different though. If we can get past the OMG it's a sin to let anyone play Freddy but Englund it does have potential. I don't hate the trailer. I definitely don't hate Haley and think he's an inspired choice to play the character. I read the first draft of the script a while back and really liked how it read. It's very different and it basically follows one character till mid way through and changes direction in an interesting and entertaining way. I do wonder if this script will be what gets to screen. The other really encouraging thing about the script is the lack of dialogue for Freddy. I love the first Nightmare but honestly F13 has always been my series of choice growing up. I think soon as they gave Freddy a personality he became a weaker villain. This script keeps him quiet and effectively scary. Combine all that with the incredibly talented Samuel Bayer who's been courted by Hollywood for years after being as successful as he was with music videos. I have high hopes for the reboot of Nightmare. I'm 100% sure come April 10 I'll have those hopes dashed onto the rocks of despair but for now I hope for the best.

Although never a Nightmare fan, I acknowledge it's an 80's classic. This is further proof Hollywood is fresh out of ideas, like we needed the reminder. I swear I could probably make a film of my bowel movements, have it PR'd to death as the latest in horror film breakthroughs, and get it put out at this point!

the thing is, there are a ton of 70's and 80's flicks that were shot on shit budgets and just thrown together to fill theaters that could possibly have had some potential, but because of whatever circumstances, ended up being awful. why don't they revamp this crap instead of something that was already successful? i understand that the target audience is familiar with a film like nightmare on elm street over something like the dorm that dripped blood, so my question is totally biased. but i'm all about my biased opinions. but the hills have eyes worked. granted, that flick is like a bullmark is to vintage vinyl amongst actual horror and 70's film fanatics. but in this day and age, a lot of the target audience had absolutely no clue that it had been done before until they googled or imdb'd it. so it could work...

I think part of the problem is they are taking special FX people and putting them behind the camera.. ala Micheal Bay..

I mean, whoever made/controlled the 'Jabba the Hut' puppet did a great job, but is he George Lucas? not in a million light years....

CGI sucks, hollywood preys on rubes. I made the mistake of watching Mummy 3 Dragon Mummy yesterday. It was a decent Indiana Jones rip off until the CGI took a dump all over my screen.... :|

I heard on the radio this moring that Robert Rodriguez is remaking Predator. Adrian Brodie will be playing Schwartzenegger's part and co-starring is Topher Grace.

Seriously, when is enough enough.

Oh yeah, Michael Cera is playing the Predator!

Rodriguez isnt re-making it. Hes shooting a script he wrote fifteen years ago that is a third movie in the Predator world. Its taking place on the Predator planet and it sounds pretty damn awesome actually.

i was just restating what I heard on the radio. I like Rodriguez and if anyone could get me excited to see the revival or remake of Predator, he is one of the directors that could... but you gotta admit, the casting is a bit odd for an action movie like this.

The only confirmed cast member is Danny Trejo (which has me jazzed). Were you listening to the zany morning zoo, because I think they were joking around...

Adrien Brody has been cast in a revamped version of Arnold Schwarznegger’s 1987 sci-fi action flick Predator, according to Variety.

In the remake, titled Predators and produced by Robert Rodriguez, the Oscar-winning Pianist star will play a mercenary and alien hunter similar to the one originally played by the California governor. Production will begin in Hawaii and Austin, Texas later this month.

When you think of a man of brawn who can outwit the ruthless Predator, you think of two men: Arnold Schwarzenegger and Adrien Brody. What, you didn't picture that last one? Well, Robert Rodriguez and Nimrod Antal did. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brody and Topher Grace are both set to join Alice Braga, Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, Walt Goggins, Danny Trejo and Oleg Taktarov in Predators, a franchise reboot of sorts that will follow several of earth's "killers" who are kidnapped and dropped on the Predator's home planet for a game of hide, seek and be brutally murdered.

I'm a huge fan of the original Nightmare on Elm Street. I was shocked to learn that Ronee Blakely who gave one of the most godawful performances EVER as Nancy's alcoholic mother was at one point in her career nominated for a best supporting actress Oscar for the film Nashville. I remember the performance as being bad back in the 80s when I first saw Nightmare,, but when I watched movie a couple months ago, I was so embarassed for her that I honestly couldn't even bear to look at the screen while she was talking.

Needless to say, a remake just won't be the same if she's not in it to reprise her role.
