Those don't look like Halloween films, they look like standard horror films.

I nominate Trick or Treat, which is different than Trick r Treat.

Thats a really good point. I can't think of that many movies that take place on halloween. I guess I would recommend Halloween 4.

Halloween 3 - very under rated

Night of the Demons - original for you naysayers
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093624/

Night of the Demons - remake :P

Of course Halloween and Trick r Treat

Monster Squad, cuz it's fun, silly and has everyone in it.

It looks like Night of the Demons remake will not be out 2010 here in the states. Edward Furlong is in it so the missis will like that.

Oops...When I recommended Halloween 4 I meant 3. Also, if you like Secret Chiefs 3, they do a incredible cover of the Halloween theme song.

Well, time to watch Night of the Demons! :P

Don't Look Now
Equinox
The Blair Witch Project
Kwaidan

You'd mentioned classic Universal monsters but I want to emphasize "Bride of Frankenstein."

uberboy that picture makes you and I look ... odd. Somehow Aaron got away with looking normal. Scary picture but what a toy haul that day.

i totally agree.
i'm tired of peoples excuses for not liking this one being: "but michael myers isn't in it. it doesn't make sense...."

what people don't realize is that halloween 2 is a continuation of the first film, and when part 3 came out carpenter had wanted the franchise to be a series of films "about/based on" halloween, not just a series about another dude in a mask fucking people up with a butcher knife. but the masses bawled about it, so now we have a never ending saga of a dude whos origins have degraded sooooo much (an extra special thanks to the hack job of rob zombie) just to keep a bit of continuity in a culture that hates sequels....

I've been watching mucho horror during this month. On Halloween, however, I plan to watch Blue Velvet and Eraserhead, whcih aren't traditional 'Halloween' flicks, but somehow seem appropriate to me.

While we're on the Halloween movie thread, can someone recommend good Zombie flicks I may have not seen already? Not really into the gore factor as much as the character driven survival tale. Own: Night of (and 90's remake), Dawn of (and remake), 28 Days Later, Shaun of the Dead, Quarantine, Land of, and Zombie Diaries (which I surprising loved!). Seen: Day of (saw original it was ok- remake was so bad I want those 2 hrs of my life back), Diary of, Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things, and 28 weeks later....

Basically anything older (that won't bore me to death) or something along Zombie Diaries.

thanks

I've wanted too for awhile now even before Quarantine the US remake came out. Is it available on US Region DVD yet? Also how are Zombi and City of Living Dead (Fulci films)?

^ Zombie is a fun flick! Love the shark fight scene!

City of the Living Dead was OK, some good gore moments.

You may want to check out Outpost.

Zombi bored the hell outa me. I know, my "big fan of zombie flicks" card should shredded for that, but whatever. Seriously, I liked Resident Evil 3 more because I could stay awake through it. Zombie vs. shark is always funny though.
