I hear you Lurker. Snow is OK between Dec. 24 and Jan. 1, could do without it the rest of the year. My kids were excited today though. |

I know it's different if your from a climate that doesn't get any snow. If I moved somewhere without it I would totally miss it. We get snow from early November - April... it's a few months to long, and last year was a killer.. this year though I'm really enjoying the winter. Again.. I guess it's different 'cuz I've got my snow boots and we are expecting it. Looks pretty though doesn't it? |

nothing beats fresh snow and how it makes everything so quiet (even tames the big bad city).. that is one thing i dislike about london,,the lack of real snow (funny though how the entire place goes into turmoil when there is a couple inches) i really miss cross-country skiing,,,used to do alot of it in vermont & the adirondacks.. i watched a tv show on the history of cross-country this week & am really tempted to take a weekend trip over to norway or finland for a cross-country getaway.. |

I grew up in Oxon Hill MD and I had lots of fond memories making getto ass snow sleds outta cardboard shipping boxes and other junk. I guess it gets less and less fun when you're "Dad" and have to be the only one to clear out driveways, walkways, and cars of icey snow and our property ain't exactly little. At least I have my 13 year old to help me out a lil this season. LOL, now he's not as excited when it snows not like before. |

Ya.. it does make everything so quite. I went down to the river at the end of my street the other day, I was just walking around thinking about how quite and great it was and then out of the blue I was in the middle of a dog sled race! Fun! ![]() When I was walking around I was trying to think of my favorite memories as a kid. I think 80% of them are winter ones. |

I live in one of the supposed "snow capitals" here in Buffalo. Yet I tell you it's a complete myth. I've lived here for 4 winters now and have not seen anything (except that crazy one october 10th storm in 07) significant in the way of snowfall. Lake effect snow? Ha! All that is, is flurries, and days of snow, but not real accumulation. People who know me and don't live here all joke about "How is it in snowy Buffalo?" Truth is the only real snowfall is south of us in Jamestown/Dunkirk and east in Rochester. I swear we've had two 8 inch snowstorms this year and that's it. Shit I got that as a kid growing up in south Jersey. LOL. |

We had about 14 inches overnight and today bright and sunny. The back of my house is floor to ceiling windows with a 12ft peak, so last night I had a glass of bourbon and watched the snowfall, lit by my neighbors big ass mercury lamp. |
