No denying the dude has talent. But "The Story" and subject matter (Churchhill, Dogs, ect.) are both pretty lame. |

Although I can't advocate using an entire, if not multiple, animal hides to create a single piece of artwork, the finished product is truly impressive. That "story" spiel was super corny though. |

Ali, Jesus, and McQueen on leather. Does this guy have something to prove? Why not just form the leather into dick and balls that squirt razors? |

I got a kick out of the "go ape" wall but have to agree with some of the criticisms here. His technique and skill are the thing, but even then, he's basically just found another medium in which to do photoreal images ... other peoples' images. I dunno. It's cool decorative art and he has some design chops but there's nothing particularly insightful, meaningful or artistic about it. Just good craft. |

I looked at his stuff briefly, and agree that his skills are impressive, but it's lacking otherwise. All I could think about while looking at it is how grossed out I am by the smell of leather (always have been, regardless of my current non-meat eating status). I don't think I could even walk into the room without the odor making me gag. |

I wonder if he could do me up a crying eagle on a fringed leather jacket? |

Douchiest poser "artist" I've seen in a long time. Hope he gets stabbed in a dark alley, that would be "a beautiful irony". |

...the guy has a gift that's for sure. I thought with the cattle carvings it was something original, then I started to see some more familiar images and then I guess I put it together. yeah, that's a bit disappointing. nothing to think about--just cool how he makes it look like a photograph or something. I mean, that's amazing in its own right, but it's not leaving me with anything. |

Sorry to keep NagNagNagging, but the only amazing thing about this is the miracle of overhead projector technology and surely his pricing. Note the obviously not in-progress "in-progress" pics. Überdouche. |

After all the comments I had to take a look...definitely agree with bunnyboy. I was cringing while looking/reading... |

bunnyboy wrote: Note the obviously not in-progress "in-progress" pics. Yeah I noticed that. I seriously doubt if he's just doing this by purely eyeballing and intuitively knowing how deep to cut in order to yield any given tone on the brown/tan "grayscale." He's almost certainly using projectors or at the very least a grid system. I didn't read the "story" part of the site because it scared me. Maybe he's like one of those guitarists who shines in a band but gets lost in solo projects. His skills in collaboration with a better "ideas person" might yield something more compelling. On the other hand, given that a lot of people who buy art are more concerned with the decorative aspect, a guy can make a decent living by having a signature skill and technique like this. He appears to know that he's in that camp. |

I agree - I don't think any artist can do without at least a grid, it's indeed just the ridiculous way this preppy asshole is trying to sell himself and his supposed "talent" that gets me all riled up (be glad you didn't click his "story")... Another thing: Unless he got the original artists' permission, which I dare to doubt, aren't these copyright infringement? |

"miracle of overhead projector technology" hahaha! I might have to read his bio to hear what tortured story of woe he has that made him become an artist |

I don't care how lame his "story" is (it is really lame) or what a douche he looks like (uber douche is right), those hides are awesome. |

Interesting technique, completely boring content. And he really looks like a major douche in those photos - guess that's why he's trying so hard to prove how manly he is, with his knives and leather and shit. If he went to the slaughterhouse and killed the cows, skinned the hides, and did all the curing and tanning himself, I could see it working conceptually. Otherwise, this just seems like the kind of crap that idiot celebrities and rich douchebags in Affliction t-shirts would buy. |

Überdouche. yeah. i call bullshit.... definite scam. if he was really doing this, he would market himself by showing off his process instead of using professional photos |

Connell I'm impressed. Sue Coe made a big splash in the '80s but like a lot of people who did during that decade, seems to have been forgotten in popular memory. Some current artists (e.g. Travis Somerville) remind me of her style and in-your-face politics. |
