I was going to ask your location, then I saw the news that a 5.9 had struck about thirty miles south of Palm Springs. Be safe! |

Thanks.. That was the first one that really scared me .. Phew.. I measure them by how many toys hit the deck... This one was a 4. I'm about 20 miles from palm springs. |

Was sitting at the office. Felt it quite well. A gentle rolling that faded, got stronger, then faded. Freaked me out though. I tend to panic during earthquakes. ~Maddie |

Ya, that was a fun one. And by fun, I mean not so fun. Probably the worst one since Easter. |

We had one here too about a week ago... I'm getting more and more scared with them as I age. And unfortunately, I even had an earthquake in LA when I was there a couple years ago. Hate to live in a shaky place... but you guys have it worse in California. |

I'm with the 'loaf. The line "worst since Easter" terrifies me. No thank you. With all due respect, I have limited sympathies for people who live in Natural Disaster Zones. Don't live at the foot of a volcano or on a fault, you already know how the movie is going to end. Gimme the East Coast, Europe or the UK any day. |

I've lived in on the East Coast my whole life, and my first Earthquake experience was on a trip to Japan- I was staying with a friend, and he was at work at the time and I was sitting in his apartment at about 10-11am and two quick intense earthquakes hit within the span of 5 minutes... Scared the shit out of me! I thought someone had run their car into the building at first, then I was convinced the Earth was going to swallow me whole. I can' imagine dealing with that as part of regular life. phil |

I'm from the East, so it took some time to get used to it .. Most are ok and not that bad .. There was the one around Easter - was in my backyard just sitting .. and the yard suddenly felt like the ocean, just rolling waves for a 30 seconds. I had never felt one like that, and then yesterday's just sucked because I had dozed off and it woke me - not a good way to wake up. |

Ain't many places on Earth that aren't prone to some sort of natural disaster or another. We've got quakes, you've got floods. They've got hurricanes over there, and those folks in that other place have killer heat waves. You know what I mean. Earthquakes are like gambling. When they cause no serious damage, they're a heavy-duty cheap thrill. When they devastate, hoo boy. |

gotta love the great lakes all I have to worry about is snow, although we have been having more and more seismic activity over the years, F that I say, I do not like the idea of my toys hitting the deck |

I think about them every time I am in SF or San Diego. The only thing we have to worry about in Phoenix is Monsoon floods and other people from Phoenix! |

With the latter 3, when they happen, you pretty much know something is getting fucked up. Most quakes pass with little to no damage. |

AND...hurricanes are essentially guaranteed to happen multiple times a year in certain locations. Major earthquakes are not annual events. |

With earthquakes, most of the time it's just, "Aww my toy got knocked over, damn mother nature!" And you move on with your life 3 minutes after. |
