Forgetting about the whole Facebook thing, I think this movie looks really good.
I like David Fincher, but the best part for me is that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are writing the score.

if the film fits with this scoring music it should be damn good. new trailers and early reviews have kept things looking promising as well.

So has anyone here seen this? The MetaCritic score is a solid 100 and honestly I’m finding it hard to swallow unless this is some neo-“Citizen Kane” for the dot-com set.

Critics choice and Golden Globe!?
I thought it was a very well made, and as engrossing as a movie about making a website could be. The hype on it is unparalleled... "first great film of the 21st century"???? Really?

Oscar worthy?

sweeping the golden globes creatively is something of a sign for oscars. it'll at least win one of screenplay/director/picture at this point.

Everyone I know who liked it doesn’t think it’s an amazing film in the terms of cinema history. And I know a lot of folks who just did not like it and thought it was a glorified “cautionary tale” movie.

It’s all hype and B.S. It’s not a bad film, but 2010 was weak film-wise. So mediocre films get knocked up a bit higher than they should.

I was greatly confused by the award sweep. It was a good movie but I saw no ground breaking performances (while Jesse Eisenberg did a great job, he pretty much acted and sounded like he always does) and I just didn't have that long lasting feeling I get with truly moving films that effect me for days or weeks. The Fighter and Black Swan both far out performed in almost all areas.

I can't help but agree with the fact that its the story of something utilized by most human beings currently and in return received tons of street cred for that simple fact. But I shouldn't be surprised with Inglorious Basterds being snubbed last year and Inception not grabbing a spot or two it should have received.

Wow I wonder where that quote started, thats simply hilarious. I don't think you can claim a single film as the greatest film of the 21st century, and holy shit certainly not one that DID NOT contain Daniel Day-Lewis :P

It's definitely not a bad movie. Stylistically, to me it felt caught midway between the zippo style of "Fight Club" and Fincher's most underrated movie, the much more contemplative "Zodiac." The stylization carried what in less accomplished hands would have remained a paper-bound story moving along cinematically, to the director's credit, but it also left me feeling a bit manipulated, if that makes sense. There's not quite as much "there" there as the movie wants to convey, and in interviews, Aaron Sorkin has been pretty frank about how he and Fincher faced that challenge. I agree that the industry buzz during the too-many-awards season seems to be overhyping the film. I haven't seen "The Fighter" yet but agree that "Black Swan" was more original and artistic. I felt the same way about "Winter's Bone" and "Exit Through the Gift Shop," both of which seem to have fallen by the wayside in Industry memory. And then there's "True Grit," which for all its populist conventionality, has more staying power than "Social Network," and is more likely to be revisited over the years by a broad audience. It's a deeper film than most critics have given it credit for.

Or maybe I'm just sick of all things Facebook. :-)

Completely agree. I forgot about Exit and Winter's Bone. But I am very happy Haley Steinfeld won as she greatly deserved it. True Grit is pretty much a perfect western. Seeing your good taste listed I can say you will definitely enjoy the Fighter, especially Bale's performance.
