Winter's Bone is a great film!
Mother was released in 2009, but still a good film.

As with all "Top Lists" there are a few I'd radically disagree with (I'm still here. You can't pull off Andy Kaufman-esque pranks in this day and age. We all saw through it. It was annoying, not transgressive) but even more that I'm glad are getting any kind of exposure. I saw Winter's Bone theatrically and loved it. Serbian Film and Dogtooth on the same day. And when you have three directors so "commercial" as Fincher, Nolan and Aronofsky continually getting well written well directed movies into the theaters and exposing actual cinema to the movie going masses... how can you lose? For 2011 you can expect Malick's Tree of Life on all the lists. Can't wait. |

"A Prophet" is a brilliant French gangster flick.One of my favourites of the year. http://www.sonyclassics.com/aprophet/ Made me want more so I rented Mesrine - Parts 1 & 2 [DVD] which came out in 2010 on dvd.Gripping from beginning to end.
