The Large Hardon Collider is an experiment not to find the "God" particle, but to develop a new energy source for Deep Space Travel. One 'side-effect' of the experiments that are being conducted might be the production of a mini black hole. Black holes are wormholes in spacetime that could be used for interstellar travel.
