I stumbled on this article today: "Over 23 years Richard Simpkin has collared more than 2,000 celebrities to have his picture taken with them. Why, asks Tim Dowling." http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2011/nov/25/photographed-with-2000-celebrities i'd usually dismiss a headline like this, but i read the article and took a look through a photo-gallery of some his pics which are now part of a gallery show called 'Richard and famous' it got me wondering about the impulse to collect in general, and to be part of something as a fan and not as a creator. Is Richard on his own trip, or is his OCD something we can identify with, and if so, why? |
