I got married in Hawaii. Kauai, Poipu on Shipwreck beach to be exact. I hope one day I can move out there. As corny has it sounds, it was like heaven on Earth. Relaxing, great weather and just had a feeling of positivity all around. |

Kauai is the best place I have ever visited in my life. best weather and its considered to be one of the wettest places on the planet. I loved waking up every morning and seeing a new waterfall. Kauai=my happy place |

I once worked with a friend in NYC who gave up his merchandising job to move to hawaii pick fruit, live in a van, and surf. He was from Vermont. Haven't spoke to him in years but he seemed really happy last time we were on aim. I dream of living there. |

Hawaii's not that different from California when you work there. I imagine it's different if you're on vacation... Maui's a good place to be; blend of city and country, as the other islands tend to fall closer to either end. |

Every time I go to Hawaii (usually Kauai) I start thinking about what it might be like to live there. At some point I come to my senses, realizing that I'd miss living in a city too much and go crazy on that little island. It's great to visit now and then, though. I wish I could tell you something about Maui, but I've only ever been there once. |

akum6n wrote: Hawaii's not that different from California when you work there. I have lived on Maui for most of my life, but people that move here after coming for vacation tend to stay about three years before moving back. They remember the fun, carefree times they had on vacation and expect it to be that way every day. But when you have to work, sometimes two jobs because of the high cost of living, it is definitely not the same. That being said, I do know people that make it work by putting aside time to do the things they came here for. But there's always the law of averages ... |

I did one of the road to Hana tours, wish I would have had more time to play in some falls and pools, but did get to stop at some black sand beaches and swim in some caverns, damn that was cold. I stayed in wailea and it is very resorty, but the beach and coral reefs were nice. The coral started when the water was 2 feet deep and you could just rest on your knees and watch fish, you swim out 50 feet and it drops to 20 feet deep. With a deeper reef further out that scuba divers frequent, Just a beautiful reef, bright fish, rays, eels, reef shark. Probably my favorite experience. Laihana was cool too, much more local and authentic Hawaii. |
