Not expecting much since it's on network television and that whole shaky documentary filming style irks me, BUT since I'm newly unemployed I've decided to at least check out 'The River' tonight on ABC. They did Lost so I will give ABC the benefit of doubt. Anyone else curious?

I'm curious and will check it out. I was a fan of lost and there are not many things on the tube that interest me much these days.

You're probably right, but given not much interests me at night apart from playing nhl12 or rdr on ps3, maybe watching hockey illegally on my computer, or playing words with friends with my g/f I welcome the opportunity to be distracted from the norm

Agreed, but as Larry David says: "Because I stay till the end, until they're dead. I go down with the ship, that's what I do." Argghh this is going to be the lamest 40 minutes...

The Criterion Collection posted a clever Tweet today: "Surprised and delighted to see that #TheRiver is currently trending!"

The shaky-cam previews didn't do much for me but I'll check it out once it's up on iTunes with lowered expectations and an open mind.

...and I thought we were going to be talking about Jean Renoir!

edit: I see now that Dean beat me to the reference. Isn't it always the way?

I know it's network TV so they're going to go for all the gimmics and dumb it down as much as possible, but I just had such a hard time watching it. Every cliche in the book was brought out, I mean creepy dolls hanging from trees in the middle of a jungle? Oh wait YES they are going to appear alive at some point! Token camera man killed.... It was just really poorly written.

I missed it but it sounds like that was a good thing.
