Artist Mike Kelley was a tremendous inspiration for me during my studies at the San Francisco Art IsInstitute. I applied to the Master of Fine Arts program at Pasadena Center for the Arts because I wanted to study under him. He interviewed me personally when I visited the school. I will miss him and the work he still could have produced if he had chosen to stay with us. What a fucking bummer! ![]() ![]() ![]()

That's sad, I've been digging him since the early 90's. Great minds think alone, It would be nice to be able to break through and let them know they aren't on their own. RIP. |

Yes, this is very sad indeed. He was a reference point for many students during my art school years and catholic tastes remains one of my favorite art books that I've often gone back to across the years. Not to mention Destroy All Monsters. RIP. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WD-PvgX1mJA |

Bummed out all over again, as happens at some point almost every time I think of him. Better to celebrate him, though, eh? I just found this quote, which made me smile:
- John Waters Bummed on an entirely different level that I somehow managed to know nothing about this when it was happening. Anyone here make it over? ![]() ![]()

^^^^^ I clearly did not attend this exhibit, but have been to the retrospective at the Geffen in LA. It is unbelievably massive and extensive. I think I spent 3-4 hours trying to get through the exhibit and upon leaving realized I needed to go back. Here's a link if you haven't already taken a gander; http://sites.moca.org/the-curve/2014/03/22/mike-kelley/ The exhibit closes today |
