just got back from the philly show and it was awesome. if they're coming to your city on the tour and you like them, I would suggest going. I was worried they were not gonna be able to keep up and play the old songs up to speed, but everything was great. and they didn't play either of those 2 new horrible songs.

Wow,

That's cool, GB was one of my fav HC band next to other NYC HC bands.
Hope they still maintain the same song structure and energy.

Helmet got back sometime ago & came out with a new album, although they have the same spirit but somehow the music evolved way off.

Thks for the Info, too bad I can't make it to the show.

Anyway, do you have any Old School HC to Trade or Purchase, The last time I scored some CD's from Victory Label & Revelation at the bargain bins.

Wow! Gorilla Biscuit! That takes me back!

I grew up at the Hardcore Matinee at CBGB. Reminds me of all the great bands that would play every week, Agnostic Front, Warzone, Token Entry, Youth of Today, Breakout, Madball, Cro-Mags.

So many memories for this old mosh pit warrior.

i thought about going to the cleveland show. but eh.

i did see the 1st Youth of Today reunion at the city gardens in nj in 96 or 97? that was sick.

i am way into quicksand again right now.

lurker, honestly I had my doubts. I've seen a couple "reunions" lately that have been pretty eh. but thankfully they were much better than I expected.

tickets for the LA area shows went on sale the same morning as the Orange Flavor Chicken Fever. My wallet took quite a hit that Saturday morning between S7 and Ticketbastards. But for GB and Murphy's Law it's totally worth it.

btw, skylar, anthrax were amazing last night!

they were supposed to play the first show i ever went to. there is a flyer for the show in the REV book All Ages. Dec 8 (?) 1988, Sick of it All, Raw Deal, GB, Screeching WEasels, Sponge Tunnel and one other band. But as my luck would go, GB never showed up to the show.
i've been bummed for almost 18 years now.

I am going to be the naysayer here but I didn't like GB back in the day. I saw them in 1988 or 1989 somewhere in or near Riverside and was totally unimpressed. I can't imagine seeing them almost 20 years later. I'm glad Skylar had a good time though and I hope everyone else does who goes to see them.

I skipped this show Saturday in Mass because I did not want to sit through the weak opening bands. It will never happen, but I wish Judge would do a reunion.

yeah, they were always a favorite in my book, and still are.

I don't know what opening bands played in mass, but I went to the show late and only really had to watch Comeback Kid before GB, so it wasn't that bad. there were about 5 other bands playing before them though, which is just ridiculous.

I think the openers here were: Set Your Goals, This is Hell, Guns Up, Comeback Kid and Righteous Jams. RJ is cool but I can't hang with the others.

when they announced a one off show last year at cbgbs I was determined to go. I'm 28 and wasn't old enough to catch them at dc's safari club back in the day so my roommate and I had to go.. No backing out. make it our last big hurrah-road-trip-for-a-hardcore-show... around comes august .... Too bad for us on our way to NYC we found out that It had sold out even though tickets had never gone on sale. Seems GB gave out all the tickets that were available to friends and family. It was a benefit for CB's, so everybody who had a ticket had to pay.. well we went anyways and got up at 6am and got in line behind 40 other people who were there... there were people in line from all over the world... 16 hours passed of the worst heat of the summer, bouncers telling us to go home,a torrential downpour and overall shit day as we were told there was no way anybody was getting in.... the show started at 4. black train jack and the first step played.. it was grim... the bouncers are laughing at the 250 people in line and telling us what shitheads we were... at that point CIV came out and told the bouncer to let evreybody in... so 5 min before they came on... the doors opened and everybody got it ....I then I saw the best show ive ever seen. now with that said.. let me say: I'm not some over excited new hardcore kid who saw some stupid reunion play some tired set of songs.... Like alot of you I spent many years going to shows and seeing many bands. I'm old and jaded on hardcore. Its part of growing up right? well It was just by far the best set I've ever seen... no doubt about it.. followed closely by the last RFTC show which I saw 2 months later. anyways...end of story....

until they announced these shows. I dont care about these new songs or what i went through. I'm still going.

The CBs show was amazing. Amazing enough that I can now write this band off as a memory...

what a great story! :D

sometimes it really pays to cross your fingers and wait and wait and wait and wait...

and just then somebody opens a door around back... you recognize an old friend who has the hook up and lets u in... u beg and plead with just the right person at the right moment and get the favor of the year...

i LOVE when that stuff goes down!!

seeing this thread brings up alot of emotions. I too grew up hardcore in the Bronx going to CBs on Sundays seeing all those bands 20 years ago. It's great hearing about all these reunion shows of late. It gives us old timers things to reminice about.

I'm sure we sat out front of the matinee show together back in day. Remember the "Warzone Women"? Yikes! Or how about 99X and Some Records? I used to wait all week for Sunday, that was the best.

Post subject:  Good times

I just saw the GB show in Toronto and it was a good time. I never had the chance to see them in the late 80's due to them not playing anywhere near me during that time. Anyways glad I made to this show. Cheers
