I'm hoping to get a positive maker/monster ID on a particular toy: I'm thinking it might be made by Yamanaya, and it might be Suflan, the killer vines from the almighty 8th episode of Ultraman. Can anyone confirm or deny this for me? Are there other versions out there as well? Any info would be much appreciated - thanks! |

Dude, that is Amapro! and it is indeed Suflan. They (it) was also seen in the Episode with Red King, when they attacked some of the scientists on the island. |

For reals? Makes sense but I'll be needing some proof! edit in reply to ultrakaiju's edit: Same episode! First appearance of the vines, Pigmon, Magilla, Chandlar AND RedKing. In that order, if I'm not mistaken. Damn fine slice of TV. So... any more info out there for me? |

This is the monster suflan/sufuran (スフラン) from the Amapro Moretsu monster series. There was also a green version (I know because I tried to buy it once but missed out). and there was a really cool Hawaii painted version, in more limited quantities. I think this was meant to be the one from Johnson Island, though it's screen appearance is a matter of seconds. They are standard size (listed at 19cm) and released in 1996. Oh, and the release numbers were quite small [relatively], being of 70 and 50, respectively. Believe me now? Here are some shots with headers for comparison: |

I used to have the red version of this toy. When bad times hit and I sold the majority of my toy collection, this went with it. I've been looking for one ever since. Still no luck. |

Looks like this fella is going to be a lot of fun! I'm not really an X-PLUS person, but this variation looks pretty nifty. |
