I've recently just gotten into the world of zines.

Totally a fan of Alex Schubert and The Blobby Boys/The Dudes.

And I picked up Johnny Ryan's newest release this morning, Infinite Stench:

So, does anyone have any recommendations?
Do you have a zine of your own?
Cool zines from the past?
Post them up!

Lucky Nakazawa!

^^I would highly recommend Drunken Master Zine to anyone. It makes perfect bathroom reading. Lucky Nakazawa packs his issues with great interviews, comics and arts. Even the ads are funny. One issue has a great two page spread on cauliflower ear among MMA fighters. Priceless.

I did my first zine the year Walt was born. Now I feel old.

Some of my favourites zines are early MRR, Factsheet Five, Beer Frame, Ink Disease, Craphound, early Giant Robot, Temp Slave and Cometbus.

My favourite zine store was See Hear in NYC which I think has closed. For me it was like a pilgrimage to Mecca everytime I went there.

Sorry organic_addict.

I didn't know Pencil Fight and early Giant Robot were zines! I totally have some of those. I remember picking them up on my first trip to LA. I was like "Dude, what are these magazines?!?! We don't have these in Texas! They have so much more here! And they are talking and interviewing some many cool artist and things!"
I remember it took me forever to find Pencil Fight #2 & #3 back here. Years, infact.

But yeah, waiting for a couple of days for my new orders to arrive. Can't wait.
Looking to make my own too... :)

Texas? If you're in Houston or Austin you have to check out Domy books. There's a store in both cities. Russell, the owner, does a good job curating a nice selection of zines with both art, readn' and comics. He puts on some great art shows as well.

I also want to recommend Patrick Kyle and the Wowee Zonk folks up in Toronto. These guys are great comics artists and draw some crazy shit. They sell their zines, but also took over one of those free car advertizing circular dispensers and give some away for free locally. I think that's pretty awesome.

Thanks for the recommendation Blake! Wowee Zonk looks amazing! Will keep an eye out on their next release!

i'm a total horder. i have every zine i got from 1991 to present day, probably a few hundred. full size half size mini etc. i revisit them from time to time. mostly hardcore/edge/punk ones, some animal rights, comic etc. i used to do a few successful ones and some one pagers often.

recently i dig the the toy related ones from the past few years of sdcc, What Gives, SQUAK (the mini ones me and john did), the super 7 zine is rad (the photo copied one they did a few years back) etc.

Blakewest just sent me a bundle of zines he had, and it was like Christmas receiving them.
I am slightly blown away by Milkcrate Digest, solely because its a zine ALL about milkcrates. Yes, the crates used for holding milk, shipments, records and just plain sitting on.

I'm really shocked that Skullbrain hasn't started a zine. Whether its all photographs, meet-ups, and fan-art, I think it would make for some great material.

Any other recommendations or pictures of your zine collections are welcome!

I tell you what....
NYCC2012... I'll make a zine. Maybe that'll encourage me to take more photos.
Anyone who attends is welcome to collaborate.

Well the mag I work on - VeryNearlyAlmost - started as a zine but I think we'd be classified as a magazine now!

I really like the stuff CarnageNYC does on the local graff scene there, and Stuck #1 included a rather lovely Baser sticker too: http://carnagenyc.bigcartel.com/

Thought I'd resurrect this old post with a project that I've just completed. The Secret Chief zine is meant to be a precursor to a toy project that I'm working on. It comes with a pair of stickers and a collector's card - the idea being that the first toy releases will each have a token that you collect in order to receive a free gift somewhere down the line.

Can't believe there hasn't been more about Justin (Rocket Society/Hateball) on this thread. That man is a fucking beast.
