Ridiculous. Stuff like this makes me so angry. That 3rd one happened about 1/4 mile from where I live. Portland isn't the bastion of freaky freedom that it's portrayed to be... |

Well you know what it is right? It's not the actual lemonade stand or whatever BS reason they give you (health issue etc etc) for shutting it down. Government doesn't like something they can't get a cut of by taxing. It's along the same lines as when they try and shut down free enterprising food trucks. Proper brick an mortar (aka tax paying out the ass) businesses complain when anyone comes by without all the same things (taxes/permits etc) their straddled with. Police are just the blunt instruments of corrupt local/state agencies, which are run by 99.9% corrupt politicians who owe favors to their friends who got them the job in the first place. So sad they don't have better things to do and they really think this is crime. |

Daimyo wrote: If these links takes me to anything lemonparty related, I am going to be upset... I haven't laughed this hard in awhile. There are so many things like this happening in the U.S. right now, that you really start questioning the idea's of freedom. I can just imagine cops coming into Caine's arcade with boxcutters, and tearing it down for running a gambling establishment without proper licensing. I wonder how long Lucy Van Pelt's (from Charlie Brown fame) Psychology booth would last in real life. |

I'm actually kind of glad that law enforcement is doing something about it. In the summertime these stands are an absolute nuisance. |

Seriously no joke, some kids at a lemonade stand saved my life. I was in Florida and went into a diabetic shock, and they saw me slumped over my wheel in their apartment complex, and called an ambulance... those kids saved my life. |

The role of police officer attracts a certain type. some of the NYPD crack downs on peaceful Wall Street protesters were just shameful. Not saying all cops by any means, but it seems like quite a lot. Along with making officers beat physical tests or test for mental illness or whatever they do, they should make recruits take tests to measure their compassion. |

Years ago I remember seeing or reading something about police testing, and if you scored too high on an intelligence test you were not considered eligible to be a police officer. It's really a shame that our police departments and military value the ability to follow orders without question over intelligence and the ability to think and make rational decisions. |

Wow, but it makes perfect sense. It really is too bad. |

at least connecticut is trying to do something about it: connecticut bill aims to make cops pay for first amendment violations Quote: Officers will be held accountable unless they they feel they must prevent filming in order to (1) lawfully enforce a criminal law of this state or a municipal ordinance, (2) protect the public safety, (3) preserve the integrity of a crime scene or criminal investigation, (4) safeguard the privacy interests of any person, including a victim of a crime, or (5) lawfully enforce court rules and policies of the Judicial Branch with respect to taking a photograph, videotaping or otherwise recording an image in facilities of the Judicial Branch. why it should take a bill in the first place... |

One thing that always turns my stomach is people saying thank you to the troops for fighting for our freedoms. That might have made sense in the mid 1700's but not now. If they fought for our freedoms they would be attacking the fundamentalist christians, congress, and the supreme court, not men who live in mud houses and herd goats. Our privatized prison system is the largest in the world, larger then China's. Our military is larger then any others as well. Yet our freedoms and education continue to vanish which are the only things that can make us stronger as a nation over the long years ahead. I think saturday night I am going to have to get a lemonade, some boogie fever, and a make out session...but all in a dark ally behind a dumpster so a survailence camera doesn't catch me and some privatized police force doesn't arrest me so that some corporation can incarcerate me and make a bank roll off our taxes that no longer go to infrastructure. Ah, this sad rant is never ending. |

Your right about it being never ending and that really sucks, the more we can connect through mediums, like the internet, the more corruption we can see with our own eyes, I think it's good to know what's going on, I'm just unsure of what to do with that information.. |
